Imphal, Apr 21: The foundation day of IAFOM was heId today with a condolence reference on the sudden and untimely demise of Late Mr, Ko GyL founder Executive Member of the organisation. Khumukcham Jaikishan Singh. MLA graced the function as Chief Guest and K. Ibohal Singh, Chairman IAFOM presided over the function. Takhelmayum Tomba Singh was the Guest of honour of the function. In the meeting. Mrs. Jenny Gangte. W/o. Late Ko Gyi and their two sons Paulzom and Henry were also present.
Giving his speech, Chief Guest MLA Jaikishan Singh suggested that the area of operation of the organisation should cover the ASEAN countries instead of the neighboring state of the North East. He expressed his desire to extend his co-operation and support to the venture of the organisation. He expressed desire for the progress of the IAFOM. A floral tribute to Late Mr. Ko Gyi and two minute silence is observed as a part of the function.
A condolence Meeting of late Mr. Ko Gyi @ U Aung Kyaw Oo of Zomi Villa, Imphal, eldest son of Mr. U. Chit Swe and Mrs. Daw HIa Kyim, 28th Street, between 85th and 86th Street, Mandalay, Burma (Myanmar), Founder Executive Committee Member of Indo Asean Friendship Organisation Manipur was held on Saturday, the 21st April, 2012 at the residence of the Chairman on his sudden and untimely demise on 11 April, 2012, Wednesday at 2.10 p.m. after a short illness.
The-meeting was chaired by K. Ibohal Singh, Chairman, IAFOM with Executive Committee Members and all the Founder Members of the Organisation.
IAFOM recognised on record the contributions, Dedications and Sacrifices of Mr. Ko Gyi for the promotion of good friendly relationship among the neighbouring countries and a radical democratic change in his motherland. He was a Student Democratic Revolutionist and a Socio-political Human Rights Activist, fought for the Labour Rights for the’Burmese people. He took shelter in Manipur to escape from the clutches of Military Junta after the coup of 1988. He was the Regional Secretary of the Federation of Trade Union of Burma (FTUB) till his last breath.
The flag of the Organisation was flown at half mast to salute him and a two minute silence was observed by standing paying homage to the deceased. The Organisation shared the deep sorrows and griefs of the bereaved family and prayed to the Lord for the departed soul to rest him in peace in His Heavenly Abode forever. Mr. Ko Gyi is survived by his wife Mrs. Jenny Gangte and two sons, Pauizom and Henry in Manipur.
