IMPHAL, Sept 8 NNN : Apunba Manipur Kanba Lup (AMKIL) felt disappointed on the failure to implement the Inner Line Permit in Manipur by the government.
This was echoed during the AMKIL’s 12th Foundation Day observation today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here.
Dr K Sushila, Deputy Director, Archives, Government of Manipur, Ima Yumlembam Mema, vice president, AMKIL and Ima Thounajam Maloti Leima, social activist graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
On the occasion, Nahakpam Aruna, Prof Manipuri Department, Manipur University spoke on the topic “Nupishingda Chatharakliba Meeyot meenei” ( atrocities against women), while social scientist Dhanabir Laishram delivered his speech on the topic “Northeast Kee Meeyamda mainland India na Yengliba Mityeng” ( the outlook of mainland India towards Northeast people) and RK Ranendrajit, editor Freedom addressed on the topic “Khunaida ollakliba phibhamsida imashingna lougadaba thoudang” ( the role of the womenfolk in the present changing situation).
AMKIL general secretary Laishram Gyaneshwori gave the keynote address when she asserted AMKIL, that was set up after amalgamation with several meira paibi (women activists) and other women organisations in the state on September 8, 2000, has started taking key roles in different movement and struggles that took up by the people to protect the state integrity and also to preserve the society from danger since its very inception.
She regretted the attitude of both the state and the Central Governments, saying they have failed to heed to the voice of the people demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state.
The AMKIL president stressed on to take up various movement and steps with the popular strength of Manipur to save the society and pledged that the women body would take part in every movement and strugle to protect the state.
At the end of her speech, Gyaneshwori urged the people from both the valley and the hill including different communities of Manipur to strengthen the state integrity and stand together for it.
