A 42 year old woman was killed by a landslide at Moijing Chingya Leikai in Thoubal district, Manipur on Friday.
The deceased identified as one Thambal Macha, wife of Md Dayas-uddin, a mother of four daughters was found under the debris of her house at around 3:30 am after a JCB cleared the debris. Thambal Macha’s house situated in the foothill. Due to incessant rain last night, the landslide occurred that destroyed her house.
She was alone in the house when the incident occurred. Reports said the rest of her family members were at her neighbour’s house who is a candidate in the just held Panchayat election.
Thambal Macha’s family members along with others ran out after they heard a big sound at around 2:15 am only to find the landslide had destroyed the house.
