Imphal, Oct 31 : O. Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister greeted all on the eve of Kut festiva. He said, “ I heartily greet the people of Manipur, especially our Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the happy and joyous occasion of Kut Festival, 2012.
Kut, the post harvest festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups of people is an occasion of thanksgiving prayers to the Almighty God for the bountiful harvest. The festival occupies a unique position not only among the Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups of people but also among other communities in the State. While extending my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all on the occasion, I also hope and pray that the festival would strengthen the bond of love, peace and brotherhood amongst the different communities living in the State.
I join the people of Manipur in the celebration of Kut and once again I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all on the occasion.”The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex traditional body of the Kuki tribe has extended its greeting to all the Chin-Kuki-Mizo ethnic ‘brethren’ on the occasion of the KUT 2012 edition to be held at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles ground, Imphal on November 1.
The dawn of the occasion reminds the people to bear in mind, the glorious days of their forefathers when they live in unity, peacefully and independently, said a press release of KIM while adding that it also reminds them of the days when their ancestors stood valiantly against the mighty British invaders who tried to take hold of their ancestors’ land.
It also called upon all the Chin-Kuki-Mizo and those co-residents to shed their differences and stand united for peaceful co-existence and prosperous future as they rededicates and re-asserts their stands for ‘non-communal, peaceful co-existence, and justice for all’.
The Kuki body also wishes the celebration to be a landmark of reconciliation and unification for the Chin-Kuki-Mizo and d Zomi brotherhood and peaceful co-existence among the different communities of the state. Major Gen UK Gurung,YSM,IGAR(S) and all Ranks of Assam Rifles extends warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of “Kut Festival”. IGAR(S) also expresses his earnest message of peace, harmony, unity and understanding on this joyous occasion. He wishes that this socio-cultural festival to celebrate harvesting would bring joy, happiness and prosperity in the region by bringing together people of all communities of Manipur.
The RPF greeted all on the occasion and appealed to all to work for the ethos given by the festival that is love, brotherhood and forgiveness.
Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) greeted Chagah festival celebrated by Liangmai tribe.
The TYCM also wishes the craving KUT 2012 to all tribes hailing from the Chin-Kuki-Mizo.
Festivals and get together are signs of unity and victory for tribals, but KUT is celebrated by Chin-Kuki-Mizo group is a thanks giving festival. “May the Almighty Lord bless KUT 2012 grants everybody’s wish. The TYCM wishes peace and harmony in this festive season and encourages to preserving our culture and tradition remembering our forefathers. Let us keep the faith of Zeliangrong Ringtelou and Kut Chebai,” .
