SHILLONG, March 1: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma was re-elected today as the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and stakes claim before the Governor to form the new government in the state.
Mukul was unanimously elected as CLP leader after his name was proposed by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president DD Lapang. Sangma’s name was ‘seconded’ by veteran Congress leader and former CM Salseng C Marak.
Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs and senior Congress leader Vayalar Ravi who was here to oversee the government formation along with AICC general secretary in charge of
Meghalaya Mukul Wasnik and Sanjay Bhapna said he is ‘confident’ that Mukul Sangma would be the chief minister for the full five years-term.The Congress which won 29 seats, two less to win a majority.
