IMPHAL, March 3 MNS/NNN : Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) has once again demanded for the immediate implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur.
According to the FREINDS, outsiders from mainland India and elsewhere come to Manipur and give lots of trouble to the local people. The FREINDS said that there have been rising in the cases of crime committed by these outsiders.
Pointing out the February 27 incident where a non-local from Silchar married to a Tangkhul woman tortured the latter, FREINDS said such cases have become rampant.
The Society while strongly condemning the February 27 incident said those problems will be reduced once the ILP is implemented in the state. FREINDS further said that drug trafficking cases, incidents of rape and other crimes in the state have become more rampant due to the inflow of outsiders into Manipur in large number.
FREINDS also cited numerous cases including that of the Churachandpur incident where a non-local had raped a 13 years old local girl.
Meanwhile, FREINDS had visited the victim of the February 27 incident at the hospital.
