Imphal, Mar 3 NNN: Gracing as the chief guest at a one day ‘Sericulture Awareness campaign cum Training programme’ held at DRDA conference hall, old DC office yesterday, MLA Dr.V. Alexander Pou called upon the people of the district to maintain work culture towards building a prosperous and developed district.
The MLA on the occasion has maintained that, a mega project like Sericulture is favorable to the soil and profession of the hill’s people and has high potentialities in improvement of the economic scenario. He also rued the poor work culture of people which is also the main reason the Government and Department is finding difficulties to promote sericulture in Senapati District. He also appealed for joint efforts of the Farmers and Department for improvement in the upcoming 2nd phase sericulture project in Manipur.
On the occasion, the 47/Karong MLA candidly slammed some of the District Government offices for poor performance and lack of concerns for the people. “Some of our departments are existing in name with no attendance or public service while some are indulging into active corruption, for which the media groups and pressure groups needs to pull their sleeves up to expose and punish those responsible”, stated Dr. Alexander. Particularly slamming the District Social Welfare Department for irregularities in old aged pension schemes where some young aged beneficiaries are enjoying against the Government’s norms and some living persons still enjoying in the name of those expired beneficiaries, the MLA warned that, it is committed to punishing such unacceptable public offence.
The awareness campaign was also graced by H.Ginjamang Simte, Director of Sericulture and Rtd.Director R. Haba Pao as Function President and Guest of Honor respectively.
The Training programme formally kicked off with a key note address from Dy. Director Kaiso Mao. It was animated by A.Diliip Singh, DSO, Imphal West and conducted by H.Vikho Pao, F/O Sericulture. Haba Pao praised the history of sericulture works in Senapati District, where many farmers benefited out of the sericulture products on large scale.

All these drug related problems can be solved when there is collective will of all concerned. The Government is expected to act. Similarly opposition parties should show the alertness to check, who else are involved in this illegal trade. Then there should be awareness among the common people. Here arises the question what role media should play to create awareness among the common masses. Awareness will come when the common masses understand the dangers that lie ahead when they understand what their leaders are doing is not acceptable. Well one army officer, who gets six figures as monthly pay could be dragged into the illegal trade. Then there is the story of minister’s family joining this illegal trade. The common people wonder what is happening around us. The fall out of all these wrong doings by higher up is that the VIPs will be checked while leaving common masses free. If you as a man find time to visit religious places what you will notice is that while young male are set free the young girls with bags will be checked. After all it is their creation. They had acted as porter for carrying deadly bombs in their bags. On Janmasthami day all male folk were set free while keeping the women including young girls who came with flowers were checked. It was a pitiable scene. The question is now put to you why you agreed to act in defiance of your own principle. The main issue now is drug. This problem will be solved. Because everybody has shown their willingness to fight against the menace of drugs. Opposition has shown the alertness just as the Government has shown the willingness to act against those involved in the deadly business. Better days are ahead. Everybody has realised the harmful effects of drugs. In the past when Manipur roads were used as lackadaisical routes for supplying drugs to different parts of the world the youths were carriers of all forms diseases. Realisation dawned quickly. Though many lives were claimed by deadly disease, many youths were saved. It happened one fine morning a young man, who is no more now, came to me and asked why it happened his loose motion did not stop even after taking pills. I told him to check his blood. Alas it turned out AIDS. He died within weeks of cheeking his blood. But he was a young man and he had no wife. If he had one the disease would be handed down to his off spring. The problem facing the state has to be seen from different angles. All that has happened in the past few weeks has made all of us realised who is involved in this illegal trade. Therefore massive efforts should be made to check the wrong doing and also to make Manipur a heaven on earth. Everyone has to contribute something. The little you do for the betterment of the society will be known when you show the readiness to do something for the society.

IMPHAL, March 3 MNS/NNN : Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) has once again demanded for the immediate implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur.

Pointing out the February 27 incident where a non-local from Silchar married to a Tangkhul woman tortured the latter, FREINDS said such cases have become rampant.
The Society while strongly condemning the February 27 incident said those problems will be reduced once the ILP is implemented in the state. FREINDS further said that drug trafficking cases, incidents of rape and other crimes in the state have become more rampant due to the inflow of outsiders into Manipur in large number.

The incident happened at Lamlongei Mantripukhri in Imphal West district in Manipur on February 27 evening.
She was taken to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here the same night.
Soshima Keishing, wife of Chandal Kal was allegedly set on fire by her husband along with the mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
“My hands were tight and mouth covered with a clothe and then they poured kerosene on my whole body and after that they set me on fire,” Soshima said.
Her husband and mother-in-law had been taken into custody of the Heingang Police Station. However, the sister-in-law is absconding, according to police.
Chandal Kal, a native of Silchar in Assam, is working for Imphal Tulihal Airport.
The couple married 4 years back and now they have a 3-year-old daughter.
Jadumani narrated the crimes committed by outsiders on the people of the state, viz, burnt down of a woman by her husband, at Mantripukhri on Feb 27, rape of a 13 year old girl from Churachandpur by a Bihari , sodomy of a four year old boy by Jahid Ulu Salam, molest of a girl at Waheng Leikai on Jan 6, rape of a four year old baby by a driver of BRTF at Mao, harassment of a woman by Ramesh Gupta, owner of Capital watch.

The state government should also check the bio-data of these non Manipuris, he said and added that inner line permit system should be implemented in Manipur.
