Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club today M Umarani, Convenor CWF of Bishnupur said that the body welcomes the proposed visit of UNSRAW and expressed happiness that she would give a room to air concerns over violence against women in the state.

Highlighting that those accused in various crimes against women in the state have not been granted befitting punishment, she pointed out further that the lack of strong police and legal support for such cases lead to accused(s) walking off.

A memorandum regarding the violence against women will be submitted to the UNSRVAW, she added.

During the press meet Ibemcha, co-convenor CWF of Thoubal District; K (o) Gangarani, convenor CWF of Imphal West District; Sunita, convenor CWF of Thoubal District; Neeta, member CWF of Imphal East; and Serabhanu, member CWF of Thoubal District welcome Rashida Manjoo and demanded the withdrawal of the AFSPA.
