IMPHAL, June 26: Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing said that the number of candidates who applied for the combined entrance examination, 2013 (now cancelled) for nomination to the MBBS/BDS course session 2013 is 5756.

The Minister was answering to a questioned raised by Keishamthong Kendra MLA L Ibomcha Singh in the House today.

MLA L Ibomcha Singh asked “will the Health Minister be pleased to state the reasons/circumstances for cancellation of the entrance examination?”

The reason/circumstances for the cancellation of the entrance examination was in pursuance of the Supreme Courts’ order date 13/5/2013, the Health Minister replied.

“Will the Health Minister be pleased to state whether any prior information/notification about the cancellation was given to the candidates, whether the merit list of NEET is binding to the state of Manipur and the present status of nomination for the MBBS/BDS course in Manipur,” the MLA further questioned.

However, the Minister refused to answer saying the case is pending in the court and so he cannot answer further.
