IMPHAL, January 2: Separate road mishaps in the state claimed three lives on the first day of 2014.

An accident at Ningombam Lamkhai crossing under Singjamei Police station late last evening claimed two lives.

The victims have been identified as Laishram Loken Singh, 47 son of (L) L Ibobi Singh of Utlou Mamang Leikai and Khumanthem Kheda, 54, son of Kh Jugol Singh of Ghari Makha Leikai.

Loken who was riding a Suzuki Access moped knocked down Kheda who was walking along the road.

Loken after hitting the pedestrian lose control of his moped and fell down sustaining injuries.

Both the victims were rushed to Shija hospital however Loken was pronounced death around 6.15 pm while Kheda succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Meanwhile, another person was killed in a road mishap near Wangjing YK College around 4.30 pm yesterday.

The victim has been identified as Ningthoujam Romen, 32, son of (L) Ibomcha of Samaram Makha Leikai.

He was heading towards Wangjing, along with his two daughters and wife, on a Kinetic zoom bearing registration number MH 12V 2230, when a Santro car bearing registration number MN 03P 0746 knocked the moped down from behind inflicting serious injuries to Romen.

He was rushed to Shija hospital and later succumbed to his injuries there.
