IMPHAL, April 12: The returning officer of No 1 Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat has said in a press release that Section 77 (1) of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1951 makes it mandatory for every candidate to the House of People or a State Legislative Assembly to keep a separate and a correct account of all expenditure incurred or authorized by him or by his election agent between the date on which he was nominated and the date of the declaration of the result, both dates inclusive.

In connection with the General Elections to the 16th Lok Sabha Election, 13 Video Surveillance Teams (VST), 9 Static Surveillance teams (SST), 1 Flying Squad Team, 1 Video Viewing Team, 5 Accounting Teams and 1 Media Monitoring Team are deployed besides appointing 5 Assistant Expenditure Observers (AEO) including 1 AEO (Headquarter) in order to bring about an effective Election Expenditure Monitoring mechanism, it said.

A monitoring room and call centre (0385-2411194/2411156) has also been opened.
