IMPHAL, April 27: Jackson Khumukcham, a Dalai Lama Fellow and research scholar of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, organised a seminar-cum-workshop on the theme “the Nat Sankirtan: past, present and future” under Dalai Lama Fellow program.

Dalai Lama Fellow program is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, USA.  It works on guiding a global network of young social innovators to deepen their effectiveness by embracing secular ethics and contemplative values.

The seminar-cum-workshop was jointly organised with “the Nat Sangeet Academy and Research Centre”. It can be noted that this research centre is one of the pioneer non-profit organization in Manipur which works on the preservation, dissemination and research of the Nat Sankirtan. Experts and students of the Nat Sankirtan art form discussed on various issues like; the past, present and future of the very art form.  Discussion were made on how to preserved the Nat Sankirtan, livelihood issues, education and job prospect and how this art form can fit within this modernising society.
