Jiribam, July 18: Frustrated with the State government’s delay in appointing teachers of Jiribam Higher Secondary School as well as other government schools in Jiribam, the students of Jiribam Higher Secondary School blocked the NH-37 over the Jiribam Bridge at around 12.30 pm. They were later joined by other students’ organisations in the agitation.

Four students’ bodies of Jiribam called off their agitation along the NH-37 after they were assured by the State government that their demands for the filling up of vacant post of teachers in various government schools in Jiribam would be addressed soon. Based on that assurance, the students’ bodies relaxed their agitation from the midnight of 12th July up to 18th July whereas the government hasn’t turned any of their words into action.

As the government has not fulfilled their condition, the students’ bodies resume their earlier form of agitation by blocking NH-37.

Following the agitation on NH-37, the students’ bodies stranded some vehicles plying on NH-37 at Leingangpokpi. The students’ leaders also confronted security forces.
