Hospital closed due to absence of doctor

A 50-bedded hospital located at Ningsingkhul, Jiribam is allegedly running without any authority looking after it.

The OPD of the hospital remained closed today due to the absence of doctors whereas the patients who came to the hospital for the needs of medical care went back disheartened.

According to sources, the doctor whose name was mentioned in the today’s roster of OPD, is reportedly engaged as a District Immunisation Officer (DIO) at the former CHC complex of Babupara which is presently used as CMO office.

In connection with this, media persons tried to talk with the chief medical officer, and learnt that he had left for Imphal yesterday. Later when the media person tried to contact the CMO on his mobile contact number, it was found to be switched off.

It might be recalled that the OPD of the hospital was also shut down recently by the public of Jiribam, expressing discontentment over the activities of the hospital and lack of amenities.

 While media person visited the hospital today to communicate with the concerned doctor regarding the closing down of hospital OPD, the efforts were in vain as there was no any doctor available to discuss the matter.
