Yambem Laba has been elected as a member of the governing Council of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in the elections that followed the 53rd Annual General Body Meeting of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in New Delhi today.

Speaking to this reporter, Laba said, “I am glad that I will now be part of the decision making body of the apex body that controls mountaineering and adventure activities in India”.

He further said that it has been a long march beginning from 1971 as a member of the adventure club at his old school, North Point, Darjeeling to his association with the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) from 1983 to his becoming an individual member of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in, 2000.
