Residential Cricket Coaching Camp to be extended

IMPHAL, Dec 11 : The Residential Cricket Coaching Camp organised by Disabled Development Association of Manipur (DDAM) which began on November 26 at Sawombung will now resume from December 22 to January 5. The coaching camp was scheduled to culminate today but will continue as a preparation for the upcoming 11th National Para Cricket Championship to be held at Nagpur from January 12 to 14, said a press release issued by DDAM.
The association has also sought support from the authorities concerned and public as participation is still unclear due to their financial shortage.

It is a calendar event and yet another Nupi Lan is here. Manipur continues to observe Nupi Lan in remembrance of the women heroes who rose as one against the British Raj and their policies and the spirit of the day continues to highlight the identity of Manipur to the outside world. Maybe it is not the day, Nupi Lan, alone which identifies Manipur to the outside world but in many ways it is the women who have been the flag bearers of the place and the people and the history of Manipur can never be complete without a reference to the numerous women centric attributes in Manipur. A description of Manipur without referring to the Ima market will never be complete and so will be her history without a reference to the Nupi Lan,

Let’s preserve mountains to combat climate change

Hills and mountains are important for all living being directly or indirectly as we get most of the resources from mountains and from nature. We depend on mountains for most essential resources like drinking water. Almost one billion people live in mountain areas, and over half the human population depends on mountains for water, food and clean energy. Mountains cover around 22 percent of the earth’s land surface and are home to 13 percent of the world’s population. It provide sustenance and well-being for 915 million people, but also indirectly benefit billions more living downstream.

Former Wushu coach complains

IMPHAL, Dec 11: Dr Oinam Shamjai, who quit his job as a Wushu chief coach under the Sikkim Government after he was assured the post of a Wushu coach in Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports during the time of the previous State Government, is yet to get any job till date. Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Dr Oinam Shamjai said that he became a Wushu Coach under the Sikkim Government from 2003.
