Sources said a handful of ‘VIPs’ have reduced or withdrawn their security escorts majority of the legislators did not pay any heed to the state home minister’s directive.
In the first week of September, Nagaland home minister G Kaito Aye had issued this directive as more security personnel are needed for maintaining law and order.
The home minister had withdrawn his security escorts before issuing this directive.
Following this directive from the Nagaland home minister, some legislators and bureaucrats had reportedly expressed displeasure.
It can be noted here that over 600 police personnel were attached with the legislators along with one driver each.
It can be noted here that East Dimapur Tribal Council (EDTC) had lauded the initiative of Nagaland home minister G Kaito Aye.
In a press communique, EDTC had said, “It is a very commendable job on the part of the home minister to take such initiatives when the state is in need of more forces for maintaining law and order and also when the world is facing economic crisis. The bold steps by the minister will surely help the state exchequer from where the money spent on those escorts can be used for development purposes.”
