IMPHAL, May 30: A Youth Red Cross Unit was opened at Manipur University (MU) through a simple programme titled “Dissemination Programme on Youth Red Cross & Opening of Youth Red Cross Unit” conducted at MU yesterday at the conference hall of Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Social Science Block, MU with Dr Ksh Manglem Singh, vice-president cum chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Thoubal district branch and Prof N Mohilal Meitei, Dean Students’ Welfare, MU as chief guest and president respectively.
The programme was jointly organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch and Manipur University NSS Cell.

IMPHAL, May 30: Troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division apprehended one active cadre of Kuki Unification Frontal Organization (KUFO) in an operation carried out on May 27. The arrested cadre is identified as Seihen Lhouvum (45) s/o Seikhohao Lhouvum of Leimakhong. Interrogation revealed that he was involved in extortion and was trained by KRA at T Gamnom, said a PIB (DW) statement.

Today, we have a serious communication gap and misunderstanding between the various ethnic groups mainly among Meiteis, Nagas, Kukis leading to lack of trust, lack of unity, communal disharmony which may ignite a civil war and social unrest among the various communities.
