The Ima Leishem Inaat Loishang has appealed to all to help in peaceful resolution of the confrontation at the locality of Panthou. Yambem Laba former President of the organisation said the confrontation occurred due to a communication gap. He said the incidents were unfortunate. Imphal, May 4 DIPR  : Dy. CM   Gaikhangam has appeal to all sections to live  peacefully and harmoniously since the people of Manipur have a  common history. It is very important for the people of the state to remain unite. Gaikhangam further stated that with increase in population  , there is scarcity of land to  construct   halls and play ground  . Inaugurating   Irom Meijrao Mamang Makha Leikai Community  Hall here today he added it is fortunate for the people of Irom Meijrao to have space for Community Hall and appealed to the locals to look after  the hall as their own property.

The Community Hall was jointly constructed by Wangoi Kendra Development Council, Social Youth Club, Irom Meijrao and under the supervision of  S. Achouba Singh  Vice -Chairman, Manipur  Khadi and Village  Industries Board.

During the programme , cultural programmes  were performed by students of Guru Irabot Institute, Bashikhong and presentation were gifted to the dignitaries by Local Cluster Groups.

Imphal,  May 4    (DIPR) :  A total of 7,51,376 applicants including   2,20,063  female applicants have Live-Registered in the different Employment Exchange of Manipur till the end of March, 2016 according to monthly progress report on the working of Employment Service, Manipur issued by the Directorate of  Employment Exchange, Manipur.

Imphal West district has the highest number of job seekers with 1,96,224 registered including  69,025 female. Imphal East district has 1,19,875 including 35,650 female , Thoubal 1,27,478 including 28,178 female , Bishnupur 71,878 including 18,793 female , Churachandpur 74,953 including 20,180 female , Ukhrul 30,721 including 9,398 female, Senapati 62,306 including  17,506 female , Tamenglong 26,343 including 6,522 female  and Chandel 32,040 including 10,259 female  .

The number of those registered under Physical/Handicapped are 2,794 (1,876 male and 918 female) and under U.E. I & G. B are 6,764 (3,130 male and 3,634 female) respectively.

During the month 1,444   applicants including 623  female applicants got themselves registered with Employment Exchanges in Manipur as against 2,613  applicants last month.

Imphal, May 4 UNA :  Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed over the controversial death by hanging of Sagolsem Prashanta today announced a two-day state-wide general strike beginning from Wednesday midnight.

The general strike was called at a time while Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) announced a 42-hour “public curfew” which would be started from the midnight of May 5.

 

 

 

The decision to call the general strike was taken in a meeting held at the office of the United Committee Manipur (UCM) in which members of another JAC formed by the people of Lilong area where the youth was found murder and leaders of UCM and All Manipur United Club Organizations, (AMUCO) took part.

Imphal, May 4, 2016(DIPR): Chief Minister Shri O. Ibobi Singh said that what is longed by the Government is not the inauguration but to provide the benefit to the people of the state.

This was stated by him while speaking as the Chief Guest at the inauguration function of 33/11 KV Power Sub-Station at Thoubal Leishangthem Thoudam in Thoubal District. Prior to this, another 33/11 KV Sub-Station at Lilong Ushoipokpi in the District was also inaugurated by him.

Saying that such a function is not a political platform to give public speech CM Shri O. Ibobi continued that what is being done is to discharge the duty of a government at the best level to meet the necessities of the public. So, he even told the Managing Director of the Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) to carry out the inaugural function along with the representatives of the Local Bodies like Zilla Parishad and Panchayat. He expressed that with inauguration of the power sub- station at the area there will be no more inconveniences of bringing power supply from distant sub-station and at the same time the voltage profile will be more consistent. He also thanked the MSPCL for the completion of the sub-station within a short time.

The inauguration functions organised by MSPCL were attended by Md. Fazur Rahim,MLA Wabagai A/C, Zilla Parishad Members and Pradhans of the area,  Shri N. Sarat Singh, MD MSPCL,Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Superitendent of Police Thoubal and officers and staff of MSPCL.

It may be mentioned that the 33/11 KV Sub-station at Thoubal Leishangthem Thoudam was taken up with the approval of the Planning Commission under SPA. The project cost is Rs. 1086.96 Lakhs and the date of award is 13/12/2013. The objective of the project is to give reliable supply of electricity to the surrounding villages like leishangthem kelimakhong, Keibung, Keibung Wangmataba, Khekman, Thoubal Moijing, Sabal Tongba, thoubal Ningombam, Leishangthem, Thoudam, Irong Thokchom, Maibam konjil, Iram siphai, etc.  The 33/11KV Sub-station at Lilong Ushoipokpi was taken up under 10th Plan RGGVY   (Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana) with an estimated cost of Rs. 3.50 crs.

With the installation of 33/11 KV Sub- Stations access to electricity to all the rural households will be enabled and which in turn bring about rapid development of agro based industries in the District.
