KANGPOKPI, November 19: Kangpokpi Town Committee today congratulate SK Hegin son of K Amang, chairman Kangpokpi Ward No 2 on being selected for appointment as Postal Assistant in Post Office/SBCO under Department of Posts, Govt of India.

SK.Hegin from Kangpokpi is one amongst the sixteen candidates selected out of one lakh twenty five thousand candidates who appeared the examination of Direct Recruitment of Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant of North Eastern Circle for the year 2011 and 2012. The said examination has been conducted on 5 May and August 24, 25 respectively through CMC Limited, New Delhi said Haochon Haokip, asst secy cum inf secy, KTC.

Haochon further said that only three candidates have been selected for the said post from Manipur adding that SK.Hegin is also the lone ST candidates selected for the post from Manipur while Huidrom Biresh and Oinam Jatina Devi are the other candidates selected for the post from the state.

SK Hegin has been posted at Nagaland Dn while Huidrom Biresh and Oinam Nitana Devi have been posted at the Manipur Dn and Meghalaya Dn respectively further added Haochon.

CHANDEL, November 19: Agitating Chiefs and student leaders of The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) under Muan Tombing has locked the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Chandel along with DRDA and Autonomous District Council Monsang Pantha today.

The agitating students along with the Chiefs arrived at Chandel DC Complex toady at around 2:00 pm of the day and proceeded towards the DC Chamber and locked it. Deputy Commissioner Th Chittaranjan Singh IAS was not present at the time when the incident happened.

Agitators then moved towards the DRDA Office where in the ADC Chandel Luckyson Kashung was in meeting with his officials.  Giving explanations on the step being taken up asked the ADC and the officials in meeting to vacate the room. After arriving on an understanding, ADC and the officials vacate the room after which agitators locked the office before moving to ADC office at Monsang Pantha.

IMPHAL, November 19: In a bizarre incident police picked a mini truck driver on finding a toy grenade inside his truck yesterday around 11 am at the entrance of Manipur Sangai Festival.

The truck was reportedly hired by Sharma Arts and Craft, Khongman opposite UNACCO School, currently engaged in beautification work of Sangai Festival, for transportation of building materials.

The man whose identity could not be established, was released today by the police.

IMPHAL, November 19: Ningthoujam Thoinu alias Heinu accused in the killing of 63-year old vegetable vendor Chandam Momon was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East today and sent to 15 days judicial custody remand at Imphal Central Jail.

According to the police, the 23 year old accused identified as Ningthoujam Thoinu alias Heinu alias Brajeshori, daughter of Kumar of Napet Mamang Leikai was arrested by a team of Lamlai police Imphal east on November 9 on charges of killing Chandam Momon with the intension to steal a gold earring on November 6 by stabbing.
