IMPHAL, June 22: The state MPs and MLAs of the Congress party will donate their one month salary to Uttarakhand. Government spokesperson M Okendro Singh made the announcement speaking to reporters this evening at his office chamber.   

He further said that the members of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in Manipur along with its leader Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh made the decision following an instruction from the high command of All India Congress Committee (AICC).        

The Congress MLAs will be donating this month pay as soon as they receive the same, he added.

IMPHAL, June 22: The United Revolutionary Front which had recently signed the Memorandum of Understanding with both the state and central government has today release a statement clarifying on the claims of the state police about the arrest of four cadres of the outfit including its home secretary against an extortion related FIR.     

The statement signed by its assistant secretary publicity Poinu Luwang has demanded proper proof of the extortion charges against its cadres.

It has demanded the voice call records of both the mobile number allegedly used by the URF cadres and the one used by the complainer.

The complainer should be produced before a First Class Magistrate and made to make his statement on the issue, it said. The statement further continued that the outfit will soon apprise the central government to review the ground rules of the MoU at the earliest.

The statement had said that the ground rules of the MoU signed says that any army, para military, state forces or any other security agencies/ forces cannot conduct any operation against the URF.

IMPHAL, June 22: State Minister of Social Welfare and Cooperative, AK Mirabai Devi has today inaugurated the newly constructed Lukram Leirak Community Hall.

She was attending the function as the chief guest while Kh Ibomcha Singh, Conservator of Forest and S Dineshwor Singh, Advisor of the Management Committee of the Community hall were on the dais as guests of honour and president respectively, according to a press release of the Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR).

During the function, the Minister said that the community hall will be used for multipurpose such as social, cultural, education and sports etc and further expressed that local specific developmental works could not be progressing due to financial constrains. The minister donated Rs fifty thousand to the management committee for further development of the community hall, the DIPR source said.

IMPHAL, June 22: Directorate of Commerce and Industries, Govt. of Manipur has today distributed state awards to 10 artisans, merit award to 12 craftsman, subsidy assistance for modernization of handicrafts skill to 40 craftsmen and individual artisan assistance to 60 craftsmen while state award carries a sum of Rs 20, 000/, merit award a sum of Rs 8, 000/, inspiration award Rs 5, 000 along with a certificate, in a function presided by Yaiskul Kendra MLA E Chand Singh whereas O Nabakishwor Singh (IAS), Principal Secretary of Commerce & Industries, B John Langtinkhuma (IAS), Director of the same department and K Sobita Devi, Director of Art & Culture were on the dais as guests of honour respectively, according to a press statement of the Directorate of Information & Public Relation.

The function was held at the Iboyaima Sumang Lilang Sanglen, Konung Lampak in which a book of the short biographies of 24 artisans and their experiences, which was collected and written by Sanasam Birendra Singh, was also released while Sahitya Academy Awardee, Sharatchand Thiyam delivered a lecture about the book.

The function was held at the residence of P Sratchandra Singh, rtd IAS, president of Manipur Strength Lifting Association at Officers colony today.

Speaking at the function Kh Ningthem Singh, general secretary, MSLA said the Manipur strength lifting team got four gold, four silver, three bronze and got overall Best Discipline Award in the 19th Sr Men, Women, 11th Master men and women National strength lifting and incline bench press championships, 2013 .
