IMPHAL, Dec 5: Unhappy with the investigation of police in the murder case of Mutum Manichandra of Bishnupur Ward No. 8, the family members of the deceased boy expressed their desire for civil organizations of the state to investigate into the case.

Speaking to mediapersons at the office of NIPCO, Manichandra’s mother Dhanabati stated that the police have not taken any action against the suspect of the murder even if he has been identified.

The convenor of JAC, L Nganbi stated the committee would endorse whatever decision the family takes regarding the case.

IMPHAL, Dec 5: A 15-day zonal level Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was inaugurated today by commerce and industries minister Y Irabot at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal.

Speaking at the inaugural function, minister Irabot stated that the educated unemployed youths of the state should be able to generate self-employment rather than going after government jobs.

He further appealed to the people to have good habit of repaying loan and grants taken from the government.

The inaugural function was also attended by O Nabakishore, princiapal secretary, N Brojendro, member secretary MKVIB, Salle Pao, assistant director of KVIC, L Biren, CEO MKVIB and V Tualthang, director commerce and industries.

IMPHAL, Dec 4: Barely four days after the counter economic blockade was lifted from the highways of the state at least 20 freight trucks bound for Dimapur from Imphal have been reportedly hijacked by suspected NSCN-IM militants from Karong, Senapati district today.

Reliable sources said that the trucks were hijacked this morning in between 7 am to 10 am, for their failure to pay annual tax to the outfit for one year.

Sources further disclosed that the militant group has also allegedly threatened the truck owners to burn their trucks if they fail to pay the taxes.

However there was no report of the hijack at the police concerned till the filing of this report.

IMPHAL, Dec 4: The IGAR (s) organized a felicitation ceremony for school boys selected into the reputed Army Boys Sports Company today, stated a PRO release. Speaker, Manipur Assembly, Iregbam Hemochandra Singh attended the ceremony as chief guest.

It has further stated that the AR had earlier organized pre training and guidance of willing candidates from the state interested in getting enrolled for Boys Sports Company and also made all administrative arrangements to attend the selection procedure. After a grueling selection procedure organized at Headquarters Artillery Centre, Hyderabad with imminent sports coaches/personalities from Army, Sports Authority of India and other fields in attendance, 11 boys were selected in disciplines of athletics and boxing, it added.

It has further stated that in another occasion, 15 AR of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(s) felicitated 12 child artists of “The Academy for Cultural Resources and Training Institute”, Nepra Company, Thoubal district today. These children between 10-14 years had participated in “Viraasat Series 2011” organized by SPIC MACAY, India Imphal Chapter from 12-29th Nov 2011. The children exhibited their talents in Pung Cholom and Dhon Dhulok Cholom at Guwahati, Delhi, Karnataka and West Bengal during the programme. These children had also earlier performed at Bal Sangam, Bangalore, Commonwealth games, New Delhi, Manipur cultural festival, Bhopal, National folk dance festival, Agartala, Republic Day Parade, New Delhi, Sangai Tourism Festival, Imphal etc. The Children are students of New Public Higher Secondary School, KM Blooming High School and LM High School, Khangabok, the release added.

IMPHAL, Dec 3: Asserting that the bomb blast near the Sangai Festival venue is not related with any one of the constituent organization of United Revolutionary Front of Kangleipak Communist Party, the reconciliation committee has sought clarification from any organization or individual responsible for the blast.

A statement issued by convenor Kourouhanba mentioned that the organization concerned should make a bold statement on the incident rather hiding from the general public. There should be not any blot on the revolutionary movement in the region.

The committee also clarified that the person gunned down by police commandos at Loitang Khunou as a suspected militant involved in the bomb blast is not related to the URF.

IMPHAL, Dec 3: 10 Assam Rifles under Logtak brigade of Red Shield Division has leveled and improved the Longmai common ground at Nonei. The grass was leveled and the pits were filled. Subsequently the ground was rolled to have a good surface for playing football.  People of the village also lent a helping hand by picking the stones before rolling the ground added the released.

Futher the released said that this is the time of the year when most of the persons of Longmai area come back home on leave and celebrate Christmas as also enjoy playing football. To encourage sports in this area and to foster a bond with the locals this initiative was taken by 10 Assam Rifles.  This renovation also comes in the wake of the Winter Cup football competition to be held at this ground from 05 Dec 11 onwards. Total of 25 teams are expected to participate in the tournament from various parts of Tamenglong District said the released.

IMPHAL, Dec 3: The office of the Rajya Sainik Board, Lamphelpat in a statement has announced financial assistance for the non-pensioner ex-servicemen and widows of the state.

The assistance are Penury grant of Rs 1000 per month for lifetime for (above 65) (non-pensioner upto Havildar), Rs 1000 rupees per month as education grant, Rs 1000 per month as officer cadet grant, 1000 rupees per month as disabled children grant.

The other grants included Rs 20,000 as house repair grant, Rs 16,000 as marriage grant, Rs 5000 as funeral grant, Rs 30,000 as medical grant, Rs 20,000 as vocational training grant for widows and Rs 1000 per month as orphan grant.

75 percent to 90 percent for officer ranks and below officer rank that i.e rupees 75,000 per financial year for serious diseases like cancer, open heart surgery is also mentioned in the grant.

The statement has urged to contact the Rajya Sainik board office, Lamphel in from 11 am to 1 pm.

IMPHAL December 2: The All Manipur Hujjai (HAJI) Welfare Association has condemned the bomb blast which had killed Md Kora at the Sangai Festival Gate on November 30.

A release of the association has stated that such a fate is not deserving to one who works to feed his family through hard labour. It is a crime on humanity and such act of terrorism should not be repeated in future, the release added. Furthermore, it has appealed to the state government to award fitting compensation to the next of kin of the deceased.

IMPHAL Dec 1: The Border Security Force (BSF) battalion head quarter, Koirengei, Imphal has organized a blood donation camp on November 28 November on the eve of its 46th raising day, sector head quarter CI (Ops) Manipur and 13 battalion BSF.

A statement issued by AK Rawat, DC/QM, in this regards said that 109 persons consisting of officers, sub-ordinate officers and other ranks donated blood to the blood bank of RIMS.

It informed that during 2011, BSF had donated blood to the RIMS blood bank, RIMS Imphal on two occasions, April on the eve of world health day at unit hospital battalion HQ, Koirengei and on July on the eve of world blood donors days at RIMS hospital Imphal in which a total of 74 persons donated blood.
