IMPHAL, Nov 15: The medical team of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) saved a snake victim, Biren Singh, s/o Tomba Singh of Yairipok Yambem (Thoubal) on November 14. The victim was brought to the Unit Hospital in a critical condition. The victim was immediately attended by the medical officer who administered life saving anti-snake venom. The patient was discharged after his condition was stabilized. Immediate medial intervention saved the life of the victim, stated a release of PRO IGAR (S).

IMPHAL, Nov 14: NEROCA, Sangakpham defeated YPHU by a solitary goal to enter pre-quarter stage of the 55th CC Meet football tournament.

In a match played today for the coveted place NEROCA overcome stifff resistance from the Young Physic Union.

Kh Satish scored the only goal of the match during injury time of the first half which decided the match match and put NEROCA into the pre-quarter final stage.

During the match referee S Loken booked Vendona of NEROCA while another player for the YPHU namely N Ingocha was also booked.

So far altogether eight teams have booked their place for the pre-quarter final berth.

In the pre-quarter final matches, NEROCA will meet SSU.

In the other mathes, NISA will play TRUGPU, AIM will play USA while TRAU will meet MPSC.

The first pre-quarter final match will be played tomorrow between TRAU and MPSC at Mapal Kangjeibung.

IMPHAL, Nov 13: Personnel of 5 Assam Rifles of HQ 59 Mountain Brigade while operating in Senapati District under the aegis of Red Shield Division recovered 300 Kgs of Grade – I Ganja worth about Rs. 14,50,000 packed in blue and black polythene from a Maruti Gypsy bearing registration No. MN-03P-1337 on Sorbung Natang Road.

A release of PRO PIB (Defence Wing) stated that the owner of the Gypsy is Ashihrii Adani of Kaiba village under Tadubi Police Station, Senapati District. The team of 5 Assam Rifles was tracking movement of Ganja from various villages of Senapati District through own sources. The party led by Major Akshay Yadava, also recovered cash amounting to Rs. 7,885 and two mobile sets from the site. The party also apprehended two persons with the haul, namely Ngaraipam, age 35 years and Shangreivo, 32, of Sanakthal, Senapati, Manipur. The entire contrabands, Maruti Gypsy, cash, mobile sets and the apprehendees were handed over to the police, added the release.

IMPHAL Nov 13: A one day awareness camp cum volunteer blood camp was organized by Lions Club of Imphal Greater with 28 Assam Rifles today at the battalion headquarters at Keithelmanbi.

The camp was supported by blood bank of JNIMS hospital and State Blood Transfusion Council. More than 100 personnel of various ranks donated at the said camp, a release by president of the club, N Umakanta stated.
