IMPHAL, Nov 7: Discovering the movement of foreigners  in general area Khudengthabi of Chandel district, the troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched   operation in the area and apprehended one Bangladeshi National on 06 Nov 2011. The apprehendee was identified as Noor Basar, 35 yrs, s/o Late Mohammed Amin, r/o Tennap Ward No. 2, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Indian Currency Rs. 8000/- was recovered from the apprehendees who alongwith recovery  was handed over to Imphal West Police Station.

IMPHAL, Nov 7: Troops of 18 SIKH celebrated of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) EID in LILONG with ANJUMAN-E-MUSHARHA. The Commanding officer of 18 SIKH was invited as the chief guest to the occasion who wished the whole community on this dayand presented a gift to the people on this pious day. A total of approximately 100 people were present for the celebrations. A small cultural programme was also organised. Also making use of this opportunity the commanding officer of 18 SIKH made the public aware of the ongoing anti social menace in the state. ANJUMAN also pledged to give its full fledged support to the unit on its ongoing drive against anti social elements. There was a traditional feast organised by ANJUMAN which was highly appreciated by everyone.  this communal harmony between the troops of 18 SIKH and ANJUMAN is an example for everyone in society that united we stand.

IMPHAL, Nov 7: 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S) organized “BAKRID’’ (ID-UL-ZUHA) celebrations at  Soura village in Thoubal District.  Special Prayers were offered before the sacrifice at the Idgah in Soura where devotees thronged from the nearby areas. The highlight of the event was the rendering of the ‘Namaaz’ by the devout Muslims. 

After the prayers, a social event was organised at the Soura Community Hall, where the troops of 27 Assam Rifles greeted their brethren and shared food with them. The Maulvi of the village while addressing the gathering conveyed that “Bakrid” is the time for self reflection and focusing on the values of all the faiths. The officers and the men of 27 Assam Rifles greeted the villagers. The Commandant 27 Assam Rifles, conveyed his heartiest greetings and best wishes to all and exhorted them to let the festival of sacrifice build in us the spirit of compassion and love and promote unity, peace and prosperity.

IMPHAL Nov 6: Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) in a release has stated that taking advantage of the upcoming assembly elections, many immigrants have been found included in voters list.

It said that they should be put in the list only after tendering their domicile certificates and those issuing domiciles should also be ethical in their work.

FRIENDS mentions that the candidates sending out agents to induct non locals in the voters list for political mileage should cease such practice immediately. If such actions are found, then the public can notify to FRIENDS through contact number 8794862562.

IMPHAL, Nov 4: 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) organized a four-day workshop on stress management on 04 Nov 2011. The workshop was organised to equip Assam Rifles personnel and their families deployed in Counter Insurgency environment with effective coping mechanisms for dealing with psychological stress. Brahma Kumaris said that stress was useful in limited sense, beyond which it is detrimental for one’s physical and mental well-being. They further advised that a person should know the scope of his strengths and weaknesses and instead of accusing others for the stress, he should make himself adaptable to the surrounding environment

Stress management is effective when a person uses strategies to cope with or alter stressful situations. Brahma Kumaris elaborated on the various levels of stress and the best strategies used to tackle stressful situation that will produce positive results. She also pointed out the fact that it is better to change ourselves than to put the blame on others for our failures.

IMPHAL, November 3: In another incident, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) arrested two banned wild life products from V Rajasekhar, 28, and Y Murgesh Sana, 21, sons of Vellaishamy, a residence of Ward No. 3, Moreh, on November 2, 2011. 14 kgs of Pangolin shell, 2 mobile phones and one ICICI ATM cared were recovered from the apprehendees. Apprehendees have been handed over to Wildlife Department, Imphal along with recoveries.

IMPHAL, November 3: The state government has recently changed the hierarchy of the authorities empowered to make recommendations and accept tenders for works in respect of the engineering departments, stated a source.

The source has informed that an official order in this connection issued by the state commissioner finance has ordered that only the chief engineer of any engineering department has been sanctioned to accept or recommended any work tender with a value of Rs 2-3 crore.

The addl chief engineer has been accorded with the power to accept or recommend all work tender amounting between Rs 1-2 crore. The superintending engineer will have the authority to accept any work tender with a value of Rs 25 lakh- Rs 1 crore and the executive engineer will be authorised to accept work tenders amounting upto Rs 25 lakh.
