IMPHAL, April 20: One hardcore cadre of KCP (MC) Lalheiba group was apprehended yesterday afternoon by a team of Bishnupur Police commando during an operation at Thanga Oinam Maning Leikai.

According to a release, the arrested cadre is identified as Oinam Ghana alias Inaocha alias Angou, 30, s/o O. Meino Singh of Thanga Oinam Leikai.

The release further said the arrested militant is working as S/S Bishnupur district commander. Police recovered one 9mm pistol with 4 live rounds from his possession, the release added.

The release further said that on preliminary interrogation the cadre revealed that he is a trained cadre of banned outfit PLA and later joined to KCP (MC) Lalheiba group in the year 2009.

IMPHAL, April 25: A combine security team consisting of Thoubal District Police Commandos and personnel of 26 Assam Rifles has apprehended two cadres of the proscribed KCP (MC) identified as Thokchom Surendra Singh alias Max, 30 s/o Th Kulla Singh of Leishangthem Thoudam Wangma Taba and Md Chningiskhan alias Thoi alias Lopi, 37, s/o late Md Abdul Awal of Thoubal Moijing Makha Leikai this early morning around 4 am during a search operation at the general area of Leishangthem Bazar under Thoubal Police Station.
According to an official source, the security forces during the verification to the arrested persons revealed that they are active members of KCP (MC) and working in the finance section of the organization under the command of one Nanao alias Lalngakpa, the official source added.

UKHRUL, May 4: The Annual Sports Day of the Ukhrul Scholars` Pakshimi High School has kicked-started today its opening Ceremony at Ukhrul Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Ground today morning.It very imperative to be noted that the event of “Sports Meet” days is one of the most interesting moments or remarkable that no single student forget the events memories in future when they grow-up.

Of nearly thousand number of students of the Scholars` P/H School both boys and girls categorized in the cluster groups of Blue, Green, Yellow and Red houses took an enthusiastic participation in the Opening Ceremony occasion scheduled the fixture games as per the rules and regulations laid down strictly by the School authority and its teaching staffs assigned at respective sports items following keen initiatives adhering the rules and regulations.

The school students had played a very successful competitions games or items including to those of Junior and senior boys foot-ball match, Vollley-ball match between the girls and boys students in four counterpart houses each played, the game of Tug of War between boys and girls were also played maintaining in a very “enthusiastic or good game spirit” manner. The second part was a scientific study of Khumunnon to Khulen, Phuikon Ningthou cave and Phuikon Haosabee cave, it added.

IMPHAL May 29: A total of 22,775 students appeared for the HSSLC exams,2011. Out of the students, 6706 students passed in the first division,9021 students in the second division and 1203 in the third division, while 84 students passed without divisions. The total number of students who passed the exam is 17,014 and the pass out percentage is 75.67 which falls down from 76.47 percent of last year exam. A total of 506 students secured stars.

4,537 students passed in the Arts stream, 12,144 students for the science stream and 333 students only in commerce.

IMPHAL May 31: A two days intensive training programme on Patchouli cultivation in Manipur was inaugurated today in a formal function held at the Youth hostel situated in Khuman Lampak, Imphal. The two days intensive training programme was organized by Manipur State medicinal plants board, medical directorate, Lamphel under the sponsorship of NEDFi, Guwahati.

K. Moses Chalai, IAS, commissioner, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur, S. Ibomcha Singh, director of Health Services, Manipur and Dr. D.N. Dutta, director, NEDFi R & D Centre, Guwahati graced the inaugural function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively. The function was attended by invitees and participants of the two days training programme.

Patchouli is an aromatic herb, which is distributed in the Indo- Malaysian and Sino- Japanese regions. The oil extracted from this herb is widely used as based ingredient in varieties of cosmetic products, perfumery, processed food etc and is imported in India in huge quantities every year.

IMPHAL, June 6: The Damini Memorial Academy, Changangei, Airport, Imphal has celebrated the World Environment Day yesterday alongwith the 18th  Sikh Regiment at the school campus. Exercise books, pencil, adomos mosquito repellants were distributed to the students and light refreshment was organized and distributed to all the students by the army regiment.
Further, small samplings were planted in the school campus, all the teachers, students and parents and people of the nearby, village attended the function yesterday.
Meanwhile, in celebration of the world Environment day, the Institute of Bioresources and SUstainable Development, dept of Biotechnology, GOI undertook a tree plantation programme at the IBSD bioresources park at Hararou, Imphal east on June 4.
According to a release of the IBSD, a total of about 1000 plant saplings were planted during the observation.

IMPHAL, June 11: Troops of 17 Assam Rifles has reportedly arrested two members of the NCSN-IM including one town commander in the wee hours today from a place in between Somdal and Ngaimu village of Ukhrul district, according to a reliable source.

The town commander has been identified as Raisang Tangkhul of Kongkun village but the identity of the other cadre is yet to be identified and detail reports could not be acquired till the filing of this report.

The victim is identified as one Asem Sunil, 30, s/o (L) Ibohal of Langdum Mayai Leikai.

The dead body has been handed over to the family after post mortem today.
