IMPHAL, Aug 27: A national integration tour was organized by 119 Infantry Battalion of Territorial Army (Assam) under the aegis of Red Shield Division for the students of Dima Hasao District. Under this the students of class VIth to Xth, belonging to various communities were taken on an organised visit to Guwahai and Kolkata. The aim of the tour was to bring awareness amongst the young generation about the development achieved by our nation and to ignite their minds to set higher goals for themselves and for the upliftment of the region.

The tour was flagged off on 15 Aug 2011 at Haflong by Mr Debojeet Thousan, CEM Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and Brig Ashim Kohli, Commander Haflong Brigade. The itinerary of the tour was planned to expose the children to various facets of modern India. On one hand they were given the exposure to modern and scientific India by taking them to Science city, Planetarium, ride in Metro Rail in Kolkata and shopping experience in modern shopping malls, on the other hand they were also shown the glimpses of rich historical and cultural diversity of our nation by visiting Assam State Museum, Kalakshetra Park at Guwahati and Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum and Fort Willam at Kolkata. They were thrilled to watch a movie in the multiplex at Kolkata. In addition the students also interacted with their counterparts at Kolkata which exposed them to the infrastructure of a modern educational system and the dedication required by modern day students to achieve higher goals in life.

During the tour the children got a unique opportunity to meet HE The Governor of Assam, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, General Officer Commanding, Bengal Area and Group Commander, Territorial Army. The children interacted with these dignitaries and spoke about their area and tribal values. The tour culminated on 25 Aug 11 at Haflong with a formal reception graced by senior Army Officers of Haflong Brigade and civil administration. At the function the students shared their experience with the locals, families and other students to highlight the importance of peace and tranquillity for the progress and development of the region. They thanked Indian Army for organizing such an informative and entertaining tour for the under privileged students of Dima Hasao district.

IMPHAL, Sept 4: Some unidentified persons lobbed a hand grenade at the residence of Sagolshem Ibotomcha, 53, of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai at around 5 pm today.

The unexploded grenade was later recovered by a team of Lamphel police station.

IMPHAL Sept 11: The chairman of the Village Authority Board, Irang Part-I, Hari Prasad Nepal in a press statement states that the Board strongly condemns an assault on Puney Prasad Poudel,chairman Manedara, Irang village.

It states that on September 10, Puney Prasad was going to Kangpokpi when he was severly beaten up by one the secretary of Thonglan Atongba Naga village,Ch Tabamwi.

It said that the board views the attack with all seriousness as it was a preplanned one.Further, the Nepalis residing at Irang has been physically and mentally tortured by villagers of Thonglan, they have been made to slaughter cows and pigs  which is against the religious practices of the Hindus in the name of fines. Such harassment have been meted out from long back in the name of being a  parent authority and apex court, such discrimination has become intolerable, it said.

IMPHAL, Sept 14: An official meeting of  the Strategic and Operation Group (SOG) constituted under the chairmanship of state chief secretary, DS Poonia has been summoned on September 17 at 11 am at his official chamber to discuss the security strategies to be taken up to counter the ongoing economic blockades along the National Highways imposed by Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee and UNC against the Sadar Hill districthood damand and upcoming agitations by Jiribam Districthood Demand Committee.

The proposed SOG meeting will be attended by the GOC, 57 Mt Div, IGAR (South), IGP CRPF (Manipur & Nagaland Sector), DIG, BSF (Manipur & Nagaland Sector), and Additional DGP (Intelligence) LM Khoute, IGP (L/O) Zone I, II, and Zone III and joint director SIB .

The meeting will discuss on effective security strategies to combat disturbances that have been created in the state due to the economic blockade along the national highways, the official source added.

IMPHAL, Sept 21: Meira Paibi organizations and local clubs of Takyel Kolom Leikai and Takyel Khongbal Meira Paibi and Sagolband Moirang Hanuba staged a sit-in-protest against monetary demand made to Pradhan Pheiroijam Dineshwar of Takyel Kolom Leikai.

Speaking to media persons, L Shantibala stated that the monetary demand made to a local representative is unfortunate and the state government should ensure security for the elected local leaders.

She also demanded the authorities concerned to give maximum penalty to the two cadres of KCP (MC)-Lallumba who have been apprehended by the local people and later handed over to police.

IMPHAL, April 6: 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) provided water supply scheme to Langol village and 10 solar street light systems to Thamlapokpi village in Chandel district. According to a release of the PRO, the water supply scheme and solar light systems has been provided under Assam Rifles Military Civic Action. The water supply scheme and solar light system were handed over to Village Authority and would surely help in overall development of these villages, it added.

IMPHAL, April 11: In an intermediate arrangement of the state Home Department the transfer and postings of five IPS officials including the seniors SPs and the three MPS officials have been made recently by the state government.
 As per the official order issued by the Joint Secy. DP, Sumant Singh on April, 8 this month,  mentioned that,  L Kailun, IPS Sr. SP Imphal West was transferred as DIG (Range91) with additional charge of SP Imphal West, Clay Khongsai, IPS, Sr. SP Thoubal was upgraded to DIG Headquarter / Administration with Additional charge of SP Imphal east, Manglemjao Singh, IPS, SP Security was transferred as  DIG, Armed Police-1,  G Bimolchandra Singh, IPS, SP Churachandpur was transferred as DIG Range-III.
The official order further mentioned that, Kh Chandramani Singh IPS, CO 7th  MR as DIG Range –II, Th Radheshyam Singh, SP Imphal East is transferred as SP Bishnupur, K Jayantaumar  Singh, Sp Bishnupur is transferred as SP Thoubal and  M Rajen Singh, MPS, Addl. IMPHAL, April 13: As part of ongoing efforts by 12 AR of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(S)  provided relief to villages of the region, 15 Solar Lights were gifted to eight villages namely Loni, Phaikoh, Molvailup, K Asang Kullen, Choro, Kongkhan, Skipe and Punamram. The solar lights were distributed by Commandant 12 Assam Rifles to village authorities during the interaction.
In Yet another occasion, 12 AR of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) provided  15 Sewing machines  to Gamnoum, Nambashi Kullen and Pihang villages as part of Assam Rifles Military Civic Action plan. The Commandant 12 AR  interacted with the Headmen and civilians during the presentation ceremony. The locals were extremely appreciative of the initiative taken by the Assam Rifles in bringing about developments in the area and helping out the common man.

IMPHAL, April 20: One hardcore cadre of KCP (MC) Lalheiba group was apprehended yesterday afternoon by a team of Bishnupur Police commando during an operation at Thanga Oinam Maning Leikai.

According to a release, the arrested cadre is identified as Oinam Ghana alias Inaocha alias Angou, 30, s/o O. Meino Singh of Thanga Oinam Leikai.

The release further said the arrested militant is working as S/S Bishnupur district commander. Police recovered one 9mm pistol with 4 live rounds from his possession, the release added.

The release further said that on preliminary interrogation the cadre revealed that he is a trained cadre of banned outfit PLA and later joined to KCP (MC) Lalheiba group in the year 2009.

IMPHAL, April 25: A combine security team consisting of Thoubal District Police Commandos and personnel of 26 Assam Rifles has apprehended two cadres of the proscribed KCP (MC) identified as Thokchom Surendra Singh alias Max, 30 s/o Th Kulla Singh of Leishangthem Thoudam Wangma Taba and Md Chningiskhan alias Thoi alias Lopi, 37, s/o late Md Abdul Awal of Thoubal Moijing Makha Leikai this early morning around 4 am during a search operation at the general area of Leishangthem Bazar under Thoubal Police Station.
According to an official source, the security forces during the verification to the arrested persons revealed that they are active members of KCP (MC) and working in the finance section of the organization under the command of one Nanao alias Lalngakpa, the official source added.

IMPHAL, April 27:The inauguration of the Water Supply Project at Koide sponsored by the  5 Assam Rifles of HQ 59 Mountain Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division was successfully held at Koide village on April 26.

UKHRUL, May 4: The Annual Sports Day of the Ukhrul Scholars` Pakshimi High School has kicked-started today its opening Ceremony at Ukhrul Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Ground today morning.It very imperative to be noted that the event of “Sports Meet” days is one of the most interesting moments or remarkable that no single student forget the events memories in future when they grow-up.

Of nearly thousand number of students of the Scholars` P/H School both boys and girls categorized in the cluster groups of Blue, Green, Yellow and Red houses took an enthusiastic participation in the Opening Ceremony occasion scheduled the fixture games as per the rules and regulations laid down strictly by the School authority and its teaching staffs assigned at respective sports items following keen initiatives adhering the rules and regulations.

The school students had played a very successful competitions games or items including to those of Junior and senior boys foot-ball match, Vollley-ball match between the girls and boys students in four counterpart houses each played, the game of Tug of War between boys and girls were also played maintaining in a very “enthusiastic or good game spirit” manner.
