IMPHAL, April 7: Transfer and postings of two IPS officials and three MPS officials have been allocated today by the state government.

In this regard an official order was issued by the Joint, Secy. DP, Government of Manipur, and as per the official order, Kamei Angam, IPS, Additional SP L/O Bishnupur has been transferred as Additional Sp Ops, Imphal East, L Mangkhogin Haokip, IPS, Additional SP Kangpokpi as Addl. SP. L/O Bishnupur, M Rajen Singh, MPS, Addl. SP Ops Imphal East was transferred as Addl. SP. Churachandpur, N Manimohon Singh, MPS, Addl. SP Churachandpur as Deputy Commandant 2nd MR and Khamjapao Ngaite, MPS, Addl. SP MPTC was transferred as Addl. SP Kangpokpi the official order added.

IMPHAL April 9: One wooden building caught fire at Sagolband Salam Leikai Mamang Leirak, today at around 8.30 pm.
The residence belongs to one Akhom Amen, 45,s/o Manihar. Amen told media persons that he had lighted a candle and left it unattended as there was no power supply at that time.

The candle is suspected to be the cause of the fire. Property including jewellery, currency notes, and other household items were lost. Adjoining house of one Salam Santa,57,was singed by the flames.

IMPHAL, April 16: The Kuki Chiefs’ Association, Chandel district has vehemently condemned the proposed Manipur (Village Authority in the Hills Areas) Amendment Act, 2011.
A statement released by the secretary information and publicity of the association, Thangjalet Mate, said that an emergency meeting was held on April 15 which has unanimously condemned the act.
According to the release the chiefs are wonder struck at the malicious proposal to dominate and control over the tribal and their lands in Manipur which contravenes with the policy of the central government of decentralization and to safeguard the rights and privileges of the tribals, before adding that the tribal who were against the Manipur Hills Village Authority Act, 1956 can never accept the New Act under any circumstances. It said that the meet also resolved to launch a series of awareness campaign and consultation in this matter and will opposed the Act which aims to uproot the indigenous people from its own land inherited by our forefather since ages and protect the land with all our might.

IMPHAL, April 18: The District Magistrate Imphal, Imphal East District has sought official claimant of ownership of one M-20 pistol bearing No.200129 with one magazine having five live rounds of ammunitions and one .32 pistol bearing No.38171 with one magazine having five rounds of ammunitions which were recovered by the Porompat police on February 22 this year after arms and ammunitions were abandoned by unidentified persons at the crossing of JN Hospital Porompat.
In this connection an official order has been issued by the District Magistrate Imphal East on April 15 last that the claim of ownership of the said arms and ammunitions stating such facts, evidence proof etc. thereof which proves the rights of legal ownership can be made on or before June 12 this year before the Magistrate and no claim made over the right of ownership of the said arms shall be entertained after stipulated time and the same shall be confiscated under law the order added.

IMPHAL April 20: A meeting of Visarev investors held at Manipur Press Club on April 18 formed a body titled ` Visarev Investors Association`. A press release by the convenor N Premananda states that the association has been formed to punish the culprits and masterminds behind numerous network scams which operate in the state including Visarev and to recoup the losses of the investors.

Further, positive action is sought from the local bodies, civil society organizations, media, Accountant General, vigilance department and state home department in preventing such fraudulent scams from operating in the state and also to take up measures to nab the culprits.

IMPHAL April 23: The Nokia Yaoshang Rock show sponsored by Nokia will be held at the NCC ground, DM campus from 3 pm onwards on April 24.
Rk Sanjoy, director of Nokia, Manipur in a press meet held at Hotel Nirmala told mediapersons that the event is held to promote rock music among the youths of the state.
The concert which is to be held in association with the Yaosang festival but due to the high school exams, it had to be postponed.
P Bodae, manager of Chumthang, an event management company stated that the concert will feature rock bands from the entire North East.
Well known bands like the Girish and the Chronicles from Sikkim will be making it’s debut for the Manipur rock fans tomorrow,Meanwhile Boomarang, another band from Mizoram, who is also the winner of the “ Nokia Lords of Music” contest is also all set to rock the crowd.
The event also features popular singer of the state, Tapta and another upcoming and emerging band from the state“The Dirty Strikes”.

IMPHAL, April 25: The Lilong Womens’ Welfare Association has decided to prevent any form of destruction on Lilong Arapti bridge and deliver social punishment to those persons involved in the destruction of the said bridge.
The decision of the association was made this morning during the meeting of the association at the residence of the association’s president Phandom Ongbi Tombirei at Lilong Arapti during which the association strongly condemned the act of destruction at some portion of the Lilong Arapti Bridge by some unidentified person last night.
It may be mentioned that, a joint inspection was conducted by councilors of Lilong Nagar Panchayat yesterday evening of the damaged portions of the said bridge for taking necessary initiative for the repairing.
On the other hand the public meeting also resolved to fight against any forms of destructions by the anti social element in the future to come.

As per the official order issued by the Joint Secretary (DP) Sumant Singh, H Kullachandra Singh, MCS, Executive Director DRDA Churachandpur was transferred as Deputy Secreatary, to state Government, Neeta Arambam, MCS OSD (LRC) and Ex Officio DS DP was transferred as OSD (LRC) and Ex Officio Deputy Secretary RD&PR/CADA and Hareshwar Goswami MCS, DS (CADA) was transferred as Deputy Secretary to the Government.

IMPHL, May 11: In a star studded event the stars of Manipur’s film world led by the likes of Bobbin and Gokul played a scintillating cricket match against the Army XI in Leimakhong on 08 May 11. The Stars comprised of Bobbin (C), Sadananda, Gokul, Amarjit, Tarun, Biju, Domba, Priyo, Raju, Brikram, Jotish and Tony, in a press released.
The Army XI comprised of Col Ajay Chowdhry, PRO Imphal, Lt Col AP Singh, Maj Anil, AGE & (C), Maj Jitender, Maj Shailesh, Lt Col Alok Gupta, Babloo Raj Kumar, Maj Harvinder, Capt Tarun, Capt Rajesh and eleven year old Abhijeet.
The Stars put up a fighting score of 160 runs for the Army XI to chase. The  Army XI did well to face the challenge and chased the score in 17.5 overs. The Star of the day was eleven year old Abhijeet who played exceedingly well and has proved to be an emerging All Rounder. The State can look forward to seeing more of him in the years ahead in the under 14 category. Abhijeet bowled four overs and took 03 wicket for 22 runs and then went on to score an unbeaten 44 runs for the Army XI. For this feat he was felicitated by the Army XI and given the man of the match award by both the teams, it further added.

IMPHAL, May 13: The 1st State Games for persons with disabilities will be held from June 1 to 4 at Khuman Lampak Sports complex informed a statement of the state organizing committee`™s chairman, M. Akshayakumar Singh.

It said that the Games is being organized for implementation of schemes of sports and games for the disabled under the ministry of youth affairs and sports, government of India.

The competition will be held for both men and female category in Sub-Junior (8-11 years) Junior (12-16 years) and senior (17 and above), as per rules of special Olympic Bharat for intellectually disabled, AISCD for athletes with hearing impairment and Paralympics committee of India for athletes with physical and visual impairment in the discipline of Athletics, Aquatics, Badminton, Bocce and Football.

About 290 special athletes and 70 coaches are participating in the games, it said.

IMPHAL June 2: Demanding for a full fledged revenue district, the All Manipur Elementary School Teachers Association (AMESTA), Jiribam in association with the teachers of Jiri College staged a sit in protest in Jiribam, today. During the protest staged by the teachers, various placards were put up that read as `we want our demand, eikhoigi demand athuba matamda pigadabani, we stand still our demand, convert Jiribam into full fledge district`.

Notably, a similar protest was also staged by the Jiribam district demand committee (JDDC) at the premises of MSF, Jiri branch situated in Jiribam Babupara at Tamenglong district for two days starting from May 31. The Jiribam district demand committee (JDDC) is a conglomeration of various women social organizations, they are All Jiribam Meira Paibee(AJMP), Jiri Ima Meira Paibee Apunba Lup (JIMPAL),AMWOVA,Jiri Branch, WASAK, WWS and Jiri Keithel Ima Chaokhat Thourang Marup.

It may be mentioned that the Jiribam district demand committee had set May 30 as the deadline to the state government in regard to their demand for converting the Jiribam sub division into a full fledged revenue district and mentioned that further democratic protests would be initiated if the government fail to meet their demand within stipulated time.
