IMPHAL, Jan 9 : The U-14 boys’ judo team representing Manipur finished second runners up in the 63rd National School Games Judo Championship organised by National School Games Federation of India at Delhi.
The State team bagged a total 6 medals in the competition (3 silver, 3 broze medals) A Wanglen (50+ kg), L Babumacha Meitei (U-45 kg), Erengbam Kalpana Devi (44+ kg) were able to bag silver medals in the respective categories while M Rajendro (U-50 kg), H Rishikanta (U-35 kg) and M Roshibina (U-40 kg) finished third to win the bronze medals.
The team were led by Th Jiten as manager while Deven Moirangthema and L Kheroda as coach.

IMPHAL, Sep 2: An open trial for selection of Manipur team — for Sub-Junior National Judo Championship 2017 for boys and girls of 10-15 years to be held at Warangal from Sep 30 to Oct 4 – would be held on September 8 and 9. Intending Judokas may participate in the trial by bringing relevant documents in original at MJA office, Khuman Lampak Indoor hall before 8 am of September 8, informed a statement.

Manipur Judoka Sushila Likmabam won Silver Medal in the women’s 48kg category defeating Aussie rival Chloe Rayner in two minutes and 23 seconds. Sushila got a couple of Wazaris which is equivalent to an ‘Ippon’ which finished the bout.

Glasgow 25th Jul, 2014: Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu of Manipur bagged a gold and silver, respectively, in women`s 48kg weightlifting in a display of overwhelming domination to open India`s medal account on the opening day of the competition in the 20th Commonwealth Games here on Thursday.

She had earlier defeated Amy Meyer of Australia in 2 minutes and 38 seconds in the quarter-finals while she got better of Mani Medza Effe of Cameroon in a minute and 41 seconds in the pre-quarterfinals.

On the other hand, Chana defeated Daniel le Grange of South Africa in their semi-final meeting.
