IMPHAL, April 18: SEYO draws CRAU by 1-1 in today’s match in the first ground of the 1st edition U-18 boy’s and girl’s state level hockey tournament at Hockey stadium, Khuman Lampak. Ksh Nelson of SEYO scored the first goal at 15 minutes time but it was soon responded in 19 minutes time by N Maheshwore of CRAU. Both the team got 4 penalty corners each but they were not able to convert them into goals.  A Yaiphaba of SEYO and L Jonney were booked green cards during the game.   

In the second ground, PHAM made an easy win over YCLYL by 6-1. Ksh Wangamba scored 3 goals, Amarjit Goswami scored 2 goals and L Romeshchandra scored one goal for PHAM and W Bipin scored the lone goal of YCLYL. After getting 6 penalty corners each to both the teams, PHAM team were able to convert only one goal whereas YCLYL team were not able convert any goals.

IMPHAL, April 17: IVFA defeated SIRTI by 3-1, while IMVFA drew with NAVSA during today`™s play of the ongoing 14th edition Challenge Cup Veteran Football tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung.

A brace from Ronikumar helped IVFA eased past SIRTI in the first ground match of the day.

Th Bhadra opened the account for the winning team with Ronikumar making it 3-0 for IVFA. Ksh Surchand netted one for the losing team as a consolation in the 50th minute of play.

Meanwhile, in the second ground play, IMVFA and NAVSA were locked in a goalless draw.

IMPHAL, April 17: LIZARD defeated AMMA by a 4-3 scoreline in today`™s match of the U-18 State level Hockey tournament at Khuman Lampak. The match was however marred by players of LIZARD protesting a referee decision just before the end of the match.

The LIZARD players protested an AMMA goal in the 55th minute of play.

However after a brief disturbance, the players decided to resume play and emerged winners.

Meanwhile in the U18 girls Hockey tournament PHAM whizz pass Ideal club with a 3-0 win.

The meeting has unanimously resolved that, any players/playing members can conduct/be member in the conducting team of the tournament at any stage of the tournament to avoid scarcity of the conducting Referee, there is no hard & fast rule in this regard and the rule no. 4(e) of eligibility of players of the conduct rules of the 14th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament 2012 is hereby dropped from the conduct rules.

IMPHAL, April 16: The All Manipur Football Association has notified in a statement that the Annual Fitness Test and Grade Examination of referees (Batch-2) for the year 2012-13 for all Referees of the All Manipur Football Association will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium. Fitness test will be held at 7 am and theoretical exam at 11 am.

It has also notified that the class 1 & 2 Referees who could not appear in the fitness test held on December 28, 2011 shall also participate in the test. Prescribed Performa for the said examination may be obtained from the AMFA office and the examination fee is Rs 100/-.

IMPHAL, April 15: YWC Langthabal defeated WCA Tera by 154 runs in the classification cricket tournament held at Luwangpokpa ground today. YWC won the toss and was elected to bat first. Prafullomani scored 78 runs out of 63 balls and Sachikanta scored 60 runs out of 59 balls out of the total of 244 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs. WCA was not able to reach the target as all the wickets returned to the pavilion with 87 runs in 24.1 overs. Sachikanta of YWC was declared Man of the Match for scoring 60 runs and 4 wickets.

Akshaykumar Singh and Nar Singh thundered for Cyclone team scoring 97 runs and 92 runs respectively to steadied theirs innings. Ishorjit Singh with 20 runs and Roben with 17 runs added valuable runs to post 262/6 from 40 overs.

Oscar bowler Johny picked up 4 wicket while Krishnanda and Rakesh got 2 wicket each for Oscar team. In reply, Oscar were bundled out for a mere 48/10 from 22 over. Cylone bowler Santosh pick up 2 wicket while Wilson and Somorjit bagged a wicket each. Cyclone batsman Akshaykumar was declared the man of match award for his 97 runs.

IMPHAL, April 3: Defending champion UTA Keishamthong rules the mats to dominate the proceddings hauling up eight more gold medals in the 8th Governor State Taekwondo Cup Manipur 2012 played at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.

The days UTA winners includes Y.Chandrakumar in sub junior boys U-38kg, M.Ronaldo in U-50kg, U.Herojit in senior boys U-87, Y.Naobi Devi in junior girls U-46kg, L.Bibi Devi in U-49kg, P.Linthoi Devi in sub junior girls U-16KG, Kh.Marshal in junior boys U-51kg and A.Akash in junior boyss U-55kg.

However making theirs presence felt in the competition includes Azmir Hossen of National Sports Academy, Imphal who fetch a gold in the sub junior boys U-29kg beating L.Kabichandra of SAI while CTA doubles K.Roshan and N.Bigyananda settles for the bronze medals.

The premier institute SAI RC also picked up three gold medals with Birjit beating James of Nambol in the senior boys U-54kg. Kh.Sanatombi Devi of SAI added another gold medal in the senior girls over 73kg.

CTI Sagolband`s L.Sanjoy beats Ng.Borish of SAI RC for the gold and silver medals while Nikki Thapa of NSA Imphal and Ng.Milan Singh of Keishamthong UTA settles for the bronze medals in the junior boys U-45kg. CTI push further with another gold as L.Gomti Chanu beat Sima of Naoriya while W.Bindarani of SAI RC and N.Bindarani Devi of NSA had to content with the bronze medals.

IMPHAL, April 2: Mixed day for all taekwondo units but UTA Keishamthong surge up to add three more gold medals to lead in the 8th Governors’Taekwondo Cup Manipur 2012 held at Indoor Hall Khuman Lampak.

Throwing a challenge, the SAI RC team and Naoriya Taekwondo Units also improve theirs showing in day two adding two gold each, keeping theirs hope alive in the competition.

In the junior boys U-48kg bout saw S.Laljing of UTA defeating K.Keshorjit of SAI for the gold and silver while Duge Ado of National Sports Academy, Imphal and M.Amarjit of SAI settles for the bronze medals.

The Naoriya Units alsp sprang up suprises as N.Singhajit beat L.Ojit of SAI RC to claimed the gold and silver in the junior boys U-68kg while H.Chittaranjan of Keishamthong UTA and Md.Sahidur of PTA fetch the bronze medals.

E.Sanatomba Singh of SAI RC grabs the gold beating H.John of Sagolband CTI in the senior boys U- of 58kg while I.Ireiba of Keishamthong UTA and Ph.Bijoy Pratap of Keishamthong UTA collects the bronze medals.

In the senior girls U-67kg bout, Sunila Thokchom of Naoriya Units gets the gold while O.Wangoileima Chanu of UTA got the silver medals. The U-57kg bout gold medal was won by L.Anita Devi of SAI RC while compatriots W.Ronibala Devi was left with the silver medals.

The day saw Rahul Chettry of CTA in the junior boys U-27kg, O.Khumanleima of UTA in the sub junior girls U-41kg and S.Nancy of UTA in the sub junior girls in the U-24kg claiming theirs respective gold medals.

IMPHAL, March 31: Physical Trainer RK Viswajit of Khoyathong Polem Leikai, Imphal received the prestigious Real Heroes Award in the category of Health and Disability for this year, in a glittering ceremony held at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai on March 24.

The recognition which carries a cash award of Rs 5 lakhs and a memento was handed over to him by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in the presence of Nita Ambani, Reliance Foundation and Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief of CNN-IBN.

RK Viswajit was one among 24 reciepents of the prestigious award.

Real Heroes, an initiative of Reliance Foundation and CNN-IBN described Viswajit as an individual waging a war against addiction through body-building in a state which is a deadly cocktail of isolation, violence and drugs.

Viswajit has reformed addicts through a combination of workout, meditation and campaigning, its official website Real Heroes said.

It further said, Viswajit’s next target is the rural areas of Manipur where he plans to set up gyms and create awareness at the grassroots level.

IMPHAL, Mar 28: Imphal East grabbed the title of the 4th State Level Rope Skipping Championship 2012 held at Indoor Hall NSA, Khuman Lampak.

Skiper from the Imphal West bagged the runners up title while Thoubal team walked away with the best discipline team trophy.

The senior girls endurance event saw Imphal East walked away with all the honours as Kh Kanan Devi fetch 362 point, Kh Piyota Devi with 351 point and N Sandhya Devi got 320 point for the gold, silver and bronze medals.

Furthermore in the Mens tripple jump open category, the Imphal East team rules the ring as W Somorjit Singh scored 97 point while N Borish Singh got 62 point and Kh Bipinchandra Singh with 56 point to cleansweep all medals.

In the sub junior boys endurance event, Kh Bipinchand Singh took the gold in the sub junior boys collecting 395 point while A Parikhit got 349 point and T Roshan Singh fetch 327 point for the silver and bronze.

The sub junior girls endurance saw K Dhanamanjuri with 305 point, W Niroda Devi with 296 point and K Silvia Devi with 289 point collecting the gold, silver and bronze medals. In sub junior boys endurance event, I Pradipkumar Singh collected the gold with 352 point while Th Rocky Singh with 351 point and N Romajit Singh with 341 point settles for silver and bronze.

Didibala Devi won the gold in the sub junior endurance category with 363 point while Julia Devi with 361 point and Latasana Devi with 340 point got the silver and bronze medals.
