Thoubal Football Cup 2012 organised by 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) which commenced on 07 Mar 2012 and culminated on 16 Mar 2012. A total of 14 teams participated in the tournament conducted at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School Football Ground, Thoubal.
Development Organization Andro Kendra (DOAK) and Thoubal- A team played the final match in which Thoubal- A team won the final match by defeating DOAK. One girls football match was also played in this event between DOAK (GIRLS) and PYC, in which DOAK (Girls) defeated PYC. Chief Guest, Commandant,15 Assam Rifles presented the trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the wining team and Rs 5,000 for runners up. Besides, special gifts were also given for the Best player, Best Goalkeeper and ‘Golden Boot’ for top scorer in order to boost the morale of players in Thoubal Cup. Selection for state level football tournament will also be made from amongst the best players of different teams who took part in the Thoubal Cup Football Tournament.

IMPHAL, March 16: MPSC today defeated Singjamei Polo club by 5-4 to clinched the 1st AMUCO Torphy State level Polo tournament, here at the Mapal Kangjeibung. The police club is now the proud holder of all major polo state level tournaments. The club already has the N Hazari polo club, 2nd Mountain Division state level Polo Tournament and the 1st AMUCO Trophy in its kitty.

During today’s final match, M Jawan opened the account for MPSC in the 4:14 min of the first chukker.

In the second chukker M Jawan and S Bimol added one each for the Manipur police team while, S Sadananda scored one for the Singjamei team.

S Bimol and M Jawan added one each again in the third and fourth chukker respectively for the police team while P Ojit added one each in the third and fourth chukker for SPC and S Sadananda added one more for the Singjamei team.

Chetak on which M Jawan was riding received the Best pony award while, P Ojit of Singjamei Polo Club who scored two for the losing side received the Best player award.

IMPHAL, March 16: Blue Hawk Khurai defeated ESU, Wangkhei by 16 runs in today’s match of the Manipur Cricket Association, Clarification Tournament 2011-12.

ESU won the toss and elected to field first.

Blue Hawk scored 170 runs in their allotted 40 overs and restricted the ESU team to 154 in their 40 overs.

Sultan was adjudged the man of the match for his 50 runs from 54 balls.

Henary of ESU scored an unbeaten 50 of just 49 balls.

IMPHAL, March 13: TYA defeated YOSC 5-3 in the 1st semi final of the Birachandra Football Academy U-16 Boys’ State Level Football Tournament at the BFA ground on Tuesday.

The two teams remained locked in 1-1 at the end of regular time.

TYA got the better of YOSC in the tie-breaker. While four TYA players found the net in the tie-breaker, only two of YOSC players managed to score in the tie-breaker.

In the third quarter final match, MPSC(C) was lost to Khurai Polo Club by 6-3, where T. Roshan scored 3 goals and Th. Thomson and Th. Momocha scored one goal each for the Khurai Polo Club and M. Vebekanand scored 2 goals and Y. Binoy scored 1 goal for the MPSC (C) club.

In the fourth quarter match, Lamyanba was lost to Singjamei by 9-4, where P. Ojit scored 5 goals, S. Sadananda scored 2 goals, M. Mocha and M. Doren scored 1 goal each for the Singjamei club and N. Phillip scored to 2 goals and O. Dinesh and B. Dinesh scored 1 goal each for the Lamyanba club.

IMPHAL, March 13: THAU, Thangmeiband defeated PCC, Mayai Koibi by 71 runs in the classification tournament of the Manipur Cricket Association played at the Luwangpokpa Cricket ground on Tuesday. PCC won the toss and elected to bat field. THAU managed to score 191 runs in their allotted 40 overs and managed to restrict PCC at 120 runs.

Sanjit scored a sultry 52 runs of just 46 balls while Bidison took four PCC wickets to help THAU win.

Imphal, Mar 5: 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized the 5th “IBHUDOU MAYANGAMBA” Men’s Open Football Tournament at Thongjao village in Thoubal District. The Tournament commenced on 04 Mar 2012 with the inaugural match being played at the Thongjao Football Ground. The Tournament is being organized as a mark of respect to Ibhudou Mayangamba, the local deity of the area.
The tournament is structured and being conducted on a knock out basis. A total of 16 Club teams are participating in the Tournament. A rolling trophy with a grand cash prize of Rs 30,000 shall be awarded to the winner. Runners-up and individual performances like Best Manager, Premier Scorer and Best Goal Keeper etc will also be felicitated with various incentives.
The “IBHUDOU MAYANGAMBA” Men’s Open Football Tournament is being organized at Thongjao Village since the last five years with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event is a showcase of sportsman spirit and dedication to sports in the area. This year 27 Assam Rifles has ventured it to conduct the Tournament in a befitting manner. IMPHAL, March 4: The 5th Inter Children Home sports Meet 2012 at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex organized by Lions Club of Imphal Greater which commenced from March 3 concluded today.

In the said Meet about 200 destitute children from different homes in the state participated in the sports meet.

The children competed in different disciplines such as athletic events , kabadi, tug of war etc. Angel’s Place, Churachandpur was declared as the team champion of the sports meet.

The sports meet was supported by different organisations and individuals including 28th Assam Riffles and 109 Bn CRPF.

In the said project former district governor, Lion Animesh Baruah , Dist 322-D also joined in conducting the said event, a release by PRO of LCIG, Thongam Arun said.
