Manipur bashed Nagaland by 4-1 goals in today’s match of Dr. T. Ao memorial football tournament at Gangtok, Sikkim. L. Gouro got the hat trick by scoring 3 goals in a row and Naoton scored one goal. In another match between Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, both the team scored 2-2 goals and ended the match as a draw. Manipur will be playing against Tripura on March 4, 2012.

Nelson scored 2 goals, W. Robinson and Th. Kingson scored one each for H.U and N. Robert scored the single goal for SYUC. W. Kunal of H.U. and Sh. Ronesh were booked green cards. In the second semifinal, YCCIC won over YCPA by 4-2 goals, M. Dinachandra and T. Deynin scored two goals each for YCCIC and L. Denelson and N. Sachindra scored one each for YCPA.  L. IMPHAL, Feb 29: YCPA Chandel makes it with 3-2 victory beating Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association into the semi  final in the 21st U-14 Boys State Level Hockey Tournament played at Khuman Lampak Hockey Main Stadium.

The YCPA team proved early as John struck the opening goal in the 4 minute and later M.Mukesh consolidates with a field goal in the 22 minute to dominate with 2-0 goals. However just before the first half, Moral Education player Th.Ronaldo makes his connection in the 26 minute to trial by 1-2 goals in the first half.

YCPA makes further charge as N Sachindra Singh hits home his team third goal but Moral Education rank surge up with Th Thonglen Singh putting in his team second goal in 37 minute but enough to save them from elimination.

In another match, Uchekon SYUC makes into the last four stages beating Cosmopolitan Youth Club by 5-1 goals in the 21st U-14 State Level Boys Hockey Tournament 2012 played at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

The Uchekon team had theirs gun blazing as L.Johny strikes in the opening goal from a field goal in the 7 minute and later N Robert put up another goal on board to speed up the attack.

Uchekon team flourished as Th Suresh Singh makes a perfect connection from a penalty corner in the 13 minute and later Sh.Amujao Singh rush things up in the 15 minute to dominate the proceddings by 4 goals lead.

The Cosmopolitan Youth Club, who seems to be fighting a losing battle, gets some relief as skipper G.Dingku find the target in the 17 minute. However the marauding Uchekon team gets further cracking as Sh Ronesh hits home the fifth and winning goal in the 24 minute to post 5-1 goals in the first half.

Cosmopolitan skipper G Dingku gets another crack at the goal in the 33 minute but had to bow out of the tournament, for lack of further goals.

IMPHAL, Feb 28: Hockey Union blasted Super Sporting Association by 5-0 goals in the 21st U-14 Boys State Level Hockey Tournament 2012 played at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

Hockey Union makes theirs presence felt early in the game as Th.Kingson struck in the 2 minute of play and later teamates W Robinson took over as he came up with a hattrick goal(10,14,22) minute and Nelson Singh chips in with another field goal in the 21 minute for the thumping win.

Hockey Union got the early lead as Th Kingson Singh open his team goal account with a field goal in the 2 minute and later W.Rabinson Singh took charge of the game as he struckhis hattrick goals in the 10,14, 22 minute and little later Y Nelson Singh struck home his team fifth goalin the 21 minute for the resounding victory.

In the other matches, Cosmopolitan hold on YCPA Chandel by 1-1 goals with G.Dingku fetching the opening goal for Cosmopolitan in the 23 minute and later T Johen drew parity for YCPA in the 38 minute to share a point each from the drawn result.

SYUC Uchekon nailed down Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association by 4-1 goals. Uchekon gets the break in the 9 minute with L.Johny pushing home a field goal and later N.Robert push home another for Uchekon in the 13 minute to gain the upper hand.

Putting further pressure to its opponent, Uchekon player Th.Romesh dig down further as he struck two more goals in the 19 and 21 minute to post 4 goals lead. The lone facesaving goal for Moral Education came in the 20 minute from N.Inaotomba Singh.

In the first semifinal, YOSC won over WAFA Wangoi in a penalty shootout match by 6-5 goals. Sarif Khan of YOSC and H. Naocha of WAFA Wangoi scored one goal each at 48 and 49 minutes, and later in the penalty shootout L. Ajit missing the goal made YOSC won the game. In the second semifinal, SKDC won over LINTHOI F.C. by 1-0 goals, the single goal of the match was scored at 44 minutes by Y. Rakesh and Dayal was booked for yellow card.

The final will be played between YOSC and SKDC.

L.Thompson Singh and Y.Roshan Singh gave the early for Khurai Polo Club team (A) striking a goal each in the first chukker and later teammates Y Roshan and H.Papak hits home two more goals in favour of Khurai in the second chukker. Nambul Mapal Polo Club never got theirs act together in the match but manages to find theirs lucky break as L Brajamani push home the lone goals.

Khurai Polo Club gaining more ground in the third chukker as H Papak, Y Roshan and L.Thompson hits home a goal each and later in the last chukker, L.Thompson picks up another easy easy goal to the thumping win today.

In another match, Manipur Police Sports Club(B) makes to the quarter final beating Khurai Polo Club(B) by 7-2 goals.

Manipur Police Sports Club struck through T Pradepkumar in the first chukker and later in the second chukker teammates S Abungcha Singh struck two quick goals while teammates T Pradeepkumar Singh and Th Romen Singh consolidates to post 5 goals lead.

Burdened by five goals, Khurai Polo Club push up the tempo as rider Th.Puremba Singh make his impact with his team opening goal just before the final whistle to trail by 1-5 goals in the second chukker.

Khurai rider mounts up theirs strategy in the next chukker as S.Jamesson Singh hits home his team second goal, which turn out to be theirs last as well. Rones in 19 and 24 minutes and Sh. Amujao in 28 minutes. The single goal of the SAA was scored by Th. Abung in 2 minutes and M. Ibomcha was booked a green card. In the second match (boys), H.U won over MEIRAA by 6-2 goals, W. Robinson scored two goals in 6 and 9 minutes, Th. Kingson also scored in two goals at 17 and 30 minutes, W. Nirajkumar scored and Y. Nelson scored one each at 28 and 39 minutes. The two goals of MEIRAA were scored by Th. Thonglen and Th. James in 31 and 36 minutes. In the third match YCCIC won over COSMO by 5-1 goals. P. Singjamei Polo unfurls theirs wing right from the start as L Mocha Singh and S Girimohan Singh find the target in the first chukker and later in the second chukker, Manihar Singh pick up a goal to boost with 3-0 goals.

Downed with three goals defeciet, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club made a dash in the third chukker with L Lokeshor Singh gets the better of Singjamei rider to push home a goal but Singjamei further increase theirs tally as S Girimohan Singh chips another goals to make 4-1 goals.

Singjamei Polo Club dominates the latter minutes as M.Manihar Singh, L Mocha Singh and M Doren Singh making connection to jump to 7 goals. Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club manage to strike theirs second goal through

H Arunjit but not enough to see them through and bow out with 2-7 goals.

The other match saw Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club moves into the next round beating Imphal Riding Club by 7-2 goals.

The dark horse riders, Lamyanba Pakhang got the break in the first chukker as L.Tolongkhomba Singh struck home the opening goal. However in the second chukker, Prakash Bhandari fetch the equaliser for Imphal Riding Club. Later Lamyanba Pakhang push theirs gallop as B Dinesh scored two goals to make a leap to 3-1 goals.

The Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club further makes inroads as Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club rode in full throtle in the third chukker as L Tolongkhomba Singh hits home two goals while teammates B Dinesh and N Phillip Singh struck one goals each to post 7-1 goals. IMPHAL, Feb 25: Manipur Police Sports Club(C) started off theirs campaign with 6-1 goals win against Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club in the inaugural match of the 1st AMUCO Trophy Polo Tournament 2012 which got underway at Imphal Pologround today.

The Manipur Police(C) team, who failed to surface in two earlier Polo meets, seems determined and rode hard for victory today.

Y.Binoy Singh proved to be pathfinder as he struck the opening goal for the police in the first chukker but the momentary rejoice soon got silenced as H.Sanjit Singh proved his mettle for Chingkhei Hunba team to fetch the equaliser, which turn out to be theirs last as well, thus making the sad exit in knock out format.

The Manipur Police spread theirs wings in the second chukker as M Vivekananda hits hard for his team second goals to take 2-1 lead. Chingkhei Hunba tried theirs level best to regain ground but wild swing and misdirected hit cost them the match today.

Manipur Police tightens theirs grip in the match as Kh Nongpoknganba consolidates theirs score to three goals in the third chukker and it was at this stage, police rider M Vivekananda who unleased his prowess to hits home three goals to romp off with 6-1 goals victory as the fourth chukker failed to provide any more goals.

Altogether sixteen teams are participating in the tournament, which is being sponsered by AMUCO and organised by All Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association. Reknowned theatre parsonality Ratan Thiyam graced the inaugural function.

IMPHAL, Feb 25: Altogether 899 players who have won several medal at various national and international competitions were given cash prizes during the observation of Players’ Day (Sannaroisingi Numit) held today at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.

The observation was attended by state information commissioner Ch Birendra, IPR and YAS commissioner L Lakher and former MOA president E Binoykumar and retired commissioner Budhachandra as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Among the awardees, international boxer M Suranjoy received Rs. seven lakh cash prize for his commendable performance at various international competitions.

IMPHAL, Feb 24: A hattrick goals from Sh Ronish helped Uchekon SYUC beat Hockey Union by 3-1 goals in the 21st U-14 Boys State Level Hockey Touranament 2012 played at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

Hockey Union started off in a strong note with Y.Nelson Singh getting the lead with a field goal in the 5 minute of play. However just before the first half whistle Sh.Ronish drew parity with his first goal in the 24 minute to level 1-1 goals.

Later Uchekon team put umpteen pressure in the second half with Sh.Ronish striking up two more goals in the 29 and 36 minute for the victory today.

In another match, Super Sporting Association Charangpat put up a solitary goal win against Cosmopolitan Youth Club.

The Cosmopolitan Youth Club who had been facing consequetive defeat in the meet, failed to rise again against the Super Sporting Association.

H Henthoiba Singh come up with his team lone winning goal in the 31 minute of the game for the victory.

Chandel YCPA also come up with theirs second straight win defeating Youth Club cum Information Centre by 2-1 goals.

The Youth Club cum Information Centre are the first one to strike up a goal as T Deynin Singh find the net from a field goal in the 17 minute of play to lead the game in the first half.

However the Chandel YCPA rise up in the second half as N Josh Singh fetch the equaliser in the 27 minute and later G Revaldo Singh strike the winning goal in the 29 minute for the victory today.

IMPHAL, Feb 23: Manipur Police Sports Club(A) thrashed Manipur Police Sports Club(B) by 9-1 goals to lift the champion title of the 3rd 57 Mountain Division Polo Tournament 2012 played at Imphal Pologround.

Manipur Police Sports Club(A) team were unstoppable right from the word go as M.Jawan Singh strike in three goals in the first chukker.

The experienced Police(A) took theirs time in the second chukker and Manipur Police(B) pounched on a chance as T.Pradeepkumar Singh hits home a goals which turn out to be theirs last as well.

Police experienced hand S.Bimol Singh gets cracking as he scored Police(A) fourth goals in the second chukker.

The remaining chukker saw some hectic ride between the teams but Police(A) tightens the grip in the third chukker as S.Somorjit Singh and S.Bimol Singh struck home a goals each and later in the fourth chukker, Police(A) maintain theirs grip as S.Bimol Singh, M.Surjit Singh, S.Somorjit Singh added three more goals for 9-1 victory today.

Police(A) walked away with Rs 15,000 along with the winners trophy while Police(B) fetch Rs 10,000 and runners up trophy. Major General Binoy Poonnen, VSM, GOC 57 Mountain Division distributed prizes to the teams.

In the other match, Hockey Union beat Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association by 2-1 goals.

The Hockey Union which displayed more aggression and better stick work got the opening goal in the 10 minute of play as Y.Nelson Singh struck a field goal for the lead. Playing second fiddle for quite a time, the Cosmopolitan Youth Club gets theirs chance as G.Dinku Singh fetch the equaliser in the 25 minute to level 1-1 goals in the first half play.

Hockey Union increased the pressure in the latter stages of the game as Y.Nelson Singh further push his team tally in the 28 minute for the lead. Th.Kingson Singh in the 34 minute and W.Robinson Singh in the 39 minute consolidates for Hockey Union for the victory today.

In another match, Youth Club cum Information Centre prevails upon Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association by 2-1 goals.

The Moral Education team looked positive at the begining as Th.Thonglen Singh struck the opening goal in the 9 minute of the game.

Down by a goal, the Youth Club players push up theirs tempo as M.Dinachandra Singh drew parity from a penalty corner conversion to hold 1-1 goals in the first half. Later P.Monich Singh delivered the winning goal in the 38 minute from a field goal.

IMPHAL, Feb 21: It will be an all police affairs as Manipur Police Sports Club(A) will take on its MPSC(B) team in the final of the 3rd 57 Mountain Division Polo Tournament 2012 to be played on Thrusday at Imphal Pologround.

In the first semi final, Manipur Police Sports Club(A) had a great run in the game as they they dictate terms to defeat Khurai Polo Club by 9-4 goals.

S Bimol Singh gave the early lead for the policemen but L.Thomson Singh fetch the equaliser for Khurai Polo Club within the first two minute of play. However Police skipper I.Khaba Singh consolidates the margin just before the whistle to take 2-1 lead.

With theirs presitige at stake, the Khurai Polo Club drew parity as H.Papak struck the equaliser to level 2-2 goals. However the policemen went on rampage as M.Jawan Singh gets loose to struck three goals in quick sucession to dictate 5-2 goals in the second chukker. The third chukker also went to Manipur Police Sports Club favours as M.Jawan unleased his wrath to struck two more goals while teammates S Bimol hits one home to make a leap to 8-2 goals.

Khurai Polo Club made a desparate bid to gain control of the game and managed to strike two more goals from L.Thomson Singh but proved too late as policemen S.Somorjit Singh chips in with his team ninth goals for the victory today.

In the other semi final, Manipur Police Sports Club(B) got the better of Singjamei Polo Club by 3-1 goals. Singjamei Polo rider P Ojit Singh, as usual, took the intiative to launch the attack scoring the first goal, which turned out be theirs last as well.

However within the first chukker itself, Manipur Police rider S Viking Singh equalised the scoreline to 1-1 goals. Later Manipur Police Sports Club got the better hand as S Abungcha Singh and H Abung Khuman struck a goals each in the second and third chukker for the win.

Imphal, Feb 20: 6/8 GR has successfully facilitated the selection of eight budding and promising sportsmen into the Boys Sports Company of 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Shillong.
It all started in the month of December 2011 when the Battalion was informed about recruitment rally for promising sportsmen into Boys Sports Company of 58 GTC. The Battalion immediately commenced a selection camp at Ningthoukhong and gave it wide publicity. The initial screening was held in the month of January 2012 at Ningthoukhong and was attended by hundreds of sportsmen. Eminent Sportsmen like footballer and coach Mr Shivananda of Nachau and boxing coach Mr Naoren Singh of Ninghthoukhong assisted the Battalion during the initial selection. After initial screening the selected group was taken to 58 GTC at Shillong. Out of a total of 22 individuals,eight have been finally selected. This ensures these young sportsmen a job in the Army and a guaranteed employment. Those who perform and excel will also get a chance to represent the state and the country in national and international events. Those selected are Boxing -Bishwamitra Singh from Nachau and N Suraj Meitei and Uttam Meitei both from Nambol. In Football those selected are L Gajitchandra Singh from Nachou and Lucky Boss Meitei from Kwasiphai in Bishenpur. Archers who were selected are Malemngamba Singh and H Leishangthem from Kunja Makha and Robinchandra Singh from Thongju Part
