IMPHAL, Mar 5: NEROCA defeated AIM by 7-6 goals in the second semi-final match of Hijam Irawat Memorial Invitation Football Tournament held at Sunshine School Ground, Moreh.

In today’s semi-final match, NEROCA and AIM were locked in 2-2 draw till the completion of the stipulated time. Even in the penalty shootout both teams maintained an equal goal score of 6-6. However, NEROCA defeated AIM in the sudden death by just a single goal.

In the final match, NEROCA will play against NISA on March 7.

IMPHAL, Mar 5: The boys’ team of Manipur defeated Delhi team by 18-21, 21-17, 15-13, 17-21, 13-12, 21-14 and 21-19 in the final match of 13th Sub-Junior National Sepak Takraw Championship held at Bellanpalli, Andhra Pradesh.

In the semi-final match of boys’ regu event, Manipur beat Andhra Pradesh by 21-17 and 21-19. Manipur will face Orissa in the final match tomorrow.

On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh defeated Manipur by 3-21, 3-21, 21-16, 21-18, 21-18 and 21-16 in the girls’ team event.
In the girls’ regu event, Manipur defeated Orissa by 21-7, 17-21 and 15-5. The final match will be played between Manipur and Uttar Pradesh.

MOREH, March 5: NEROCA(Sangalkpham) has enter the final match of the 3rd Lamyanbam Irawat Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2011 by defeating AIM at 7:6 goals during the second semi final match played with the team of AIM this afternoon at Eastern Shine Public Ground, Moreh.

The second semi final match of the tournament which played between the NEROCA and AIM have made their tremendous achievement by scoring themselves two goals each at the first half.

Later the match was dominated by the team of NEROCA during second half as the the NEROCA team finally won the second semi final match in the tri break against the AIM by 5;4 today goals and enter the final match.

The selection for the 3rd position of the said tournament will be played in between SSU(singjamei) and AIM(khabam) at 2.30 pm tomorrow at the same ground and the final match of the said tournament will be played between NISA(thangmeiband) NEROCA(sangakpham) at 1.30 pm of March 7.

IMPHAL, Mar 4: Cyclist Thokchom Helen who bagged eight medals including three gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medal at the recently concluded 34th National Games was given warm welcome by the locals of Chirai Awang Leikai.

The reception function was graced by chairman of MANITRON, MLA Kh Ratankumar as the chief guest and chairperson of Mayang Imphal Municipal Council, Thokchom Rajamohon as the president.

Speaking at the function, MLA Ratankumar stated that the players of the state have brought laurels to the state after competing with the players of other advanced states. The meritorious sportspersons of the state will be given adequate opportunities, he noted.

Helen has secured three gold medals in 3 km team pursuit, 1500 mt team time trial pursuit and 38 km team road; four silver medals in 1000 mt Olympic sprint, 27 km road time trial, 3 km pursuit and 12 km point race; and one bronze medal in 48 km mass start.

She hails from Chirai Awang Leikai under Mayang Imphal assembly constituency.
