IMPHAL, Aug 1: A team of City police raided a godown at Thangal Bazar and seized large quantities of tobacco products worth more than Rs 50 thousand and arrested two individuals today.
Accosrind to police source, a team of city police under the supervision of Senior SP, Imphal West, Themthing Ngasangva under the command of Additional SP (Law and order) L Priyadarshni and led by OC, City police, Sudhir, acting on a tip off from volunteers of Manipur Friendship Organisation about hoarding and storage of large quantity of tobacco products, raided a godown located at Prajatantra Gali, Thangal Bazar at around 3.45 pm and seized tobacco products worth around Rs 50 thousand.
The police team also arrested two individuals during the raid, identified as Anil Kumar Gupta (25) s/o Kapil Mani Sahu of Ala district, Bihar, at present staying at RIMS road and Ganesh Sahu (28) s/o Hiralal Sahu of Buxar district, Bihar, at present staying at Telipati, Minuthong.
The arrested individuals along with the seized products were handed over to the Food Safety Authority after necessary formalities by the police team.
