Imphal, Feb 27: Unemployed youths in Manipur are on the rise with their number nearing one million, according to a latest official record available with the Manipur State Employment Exchange department.
Till the end of January 2012, the Government Employment Exchange department has recorded a total of 7, 08,717 educated youths who are seeking Government jobs, of which the number of male job seekers is 5, 08,073 while female job seekers stand at 2, 00, 644.
Imphal West district has recorded the highest number of job seekers among the nine districts at 2, 28, 056, while from Imphal East district, 1, 04, 729 has applied for Government jobs, and 1, 08,765 from Thoubal district, 64, 813 from Bishnupur district, 64, 017 from Churachandpur district, 28, 193 from Ukhrul district, 53, 122 from Senapati district, 22, 032 from Tamenglong district and 26, 371 from Chandel district, according to the official information.
The information has also revealed that a total of 2, 474 physically challenged persons and another 6, 145 from UEI and CB are among the job seekers.
