Imphal, Apr 14: Uma Gurung, President, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA), HQ IGAR (South) with other members visited Mother Teresa Home on 13 Apr 2012 and interacted with the inmates, patients and kids and learnt about lifestyle and problems faced by them during one of her many such planned visits to institutions alike across the State of Manipur. The ARWWA President appreciated the efforts put in by Mother Teresa Home while she met and shared the problems with everyone there. Its an endeavour of the President ARWWA to work towards the upliftment of various social organisations by rendering help through Assam Rifles, a gesture that is seldom extended.
Meanwhile 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) provided assistance to the villagers of Sigjamei village on 13 Apr 12.The Unit was provided material and administrative assistance for celebration of Meitei Cheiraoba festival at Chinga Leirambi Devi Temple. More than 7000 people attended the function.
In another occasion, a team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 22 GRENADIERS of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized a Medical Camp at Moltuk village of Chandel district on 13 Apr 12.
More than 150 patients from Moltuk and nearby areas were diagnosed and provided medicines The 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) organized a pre-recruitment training camp under PARTNERS (Partnership of Assam Rifles Toward North East Regional students) programme. 27
Youths includes 13 female aspirants are participating in the camp. Highlights of the camp include various forms of physical training, games & sports competitions, obstacle course, public speaking and grooming
classes and personal counseling. The main focus of the entire camp is providing them intellectual and physical training to match the expected standards.
