Imphal, Apr 18: A 15 day basic course in news reporting organized by DIPR began at Manipur Press Club today.
Commissioner IPR Shri L. Lakher gracing the function as chief guest said, it is not an easy task for the educated persons who dedicate in the line of journalism. Good journalism can be achieved through hard work. Journalists should convey the information to the people.
The people should respect journalists who are taking keen interest in conveying the world news to the people. Besides the journalists should work impartially.
Presiding over the function, A. Mobi, president AMWJU said, the profession of journalism is full of responsibility. Therefore those in the profession should know the knowledge of journalism. A society is meaningless without communication and information.
Chief editor of Kangla Pao, P. Ibochouba and advocate Chongtham Narendra also attended as guest of honour. Altogether 23 trainees are taking part in the training programme.

Imphal, Apr 18: 5 Assam Rifles along with all its Officers, Junior Commissioned Officer’s and Jawans celebrated its 92nd Raising Day on 18 April 2012.
The Chief Guest for the Raising Day was Brigadier SK Sharma, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade. 5 Assam Rifles was raised on 10 Jun 1920 by Captain John Donald Oglivy from the First King George’s Gorkha Rifles at Lokra, Assam. In 1962, during the Chinese invasion, the battalion fought gallantly while manning 20 outposts on the Indo – Tibet border.
The battalion is deployed in Manipur since year 2006 both at Jiribam earlier and now at Maram. The Battalion ever since its inception, has been performing exceedingly well in all spheres of operations and sports. The unit is carrying out numerous military civic actions with the aim of bringing development to the region as well as building a strong bond with the local population. During the 92nd Raising Day of “Pancham”, as the battalion is fondly called, all senior officers including GOC Red Shield Division and IGAR (S) have wished the battalion the very best in all their endeavors.
