Imphal, Apr 27: Three cadres of PREPAK (Pro) who was involved in the blasting of bombs at the residence of Dr. Modhubala on April 24 were arrested by police.
Police arrested two persons while conducting searching operation at Khurai area last night and nabbed two persons who were identified as Heigrujam Kiran Meitei alias Kirankumar (33) Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai, Ningthoujam Sana Meitei Moirangkampu Khewa Bazar.
Police seized demand letters, two hand grenades, one scooter and one Nokia handset from the possession of the duo.
During follow up action, police also arrested one Haobijam Noren Meitei alias Ibomcha (37) Thanga Karang. Two hand grenades and one Nokia handset were seized from his possession. He was arrested from Khurai Thingom Leikai.
During preliminary investigation, they were involved in the hurling of bomb at the residence of Dr. Modhubal of Lamphel.
Discovering the movement of UG cadres in Nangbrang, troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector and 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector launched joint operation in the area and apprehended one RPF cadre on 27 Apr 2012. The apprehendee was identified as SS Cpl PH Amarjit Singh alias Priyo Kumar , r/o Moirangthem Laijbam Leikai and he was handed over to Yairipok Police station.
Troops of 33 Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division, launched a special search operation in Sagang Bazar area in the morning of 27 Apr 2012 and apprehended one terrorist of UTLF group, namely Satkholen Khongsal, (age 26 years), r/o village Khomunnom, near IT road, Kangpokpi Ward No 12, Dist Senapati. On questioning, it was discerned that he is a hardcore cadre of UTLF group and was actively involved in tax collection, extortion and financial transactions for the outfit from Sagang area. The cadre has been handed over to PS Kumbi.
