IMPHAL, Apr 29: Ph Amarjit alias Priyokumar alias Pakpa, 27, a resident of Moirangthem Laijabam Leikai, who was arrested by a combined team of 28 Assam Rifles and 42 Assam Rifles during a search operation at Nongbram on April 27, is not related with RPF/PLA, the banned outfit claimed on Sunday.

A person called by name Amarjit alias Priyokumar alias Pakpa has never joined the PLA as a regular army till now, RPF clarified in a statement signed by its chief of department of publicity, Taohangsu Heiremcha.

IMPHAL, Apr 29: Unidentified persons, suspected to be militants placed a hand grenade at the residential gate of one Takhellambam Mangi, 45 at Uripok Takhellambam Leikai at 7pm this late evening.

Mangi is reported to be an executing engineer at the Manipur Pollution Control Board.

The bomb exploded, however no one was injured during the explosion.

IMPHAL, April 29: KHSC clinched the 1st edition Boy’s state level Hockey Tournament at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium by defeating LIZARD in an interesting and exciting final which saw both teams locked at 1-1 at the end of regular time.

Th Henthoiba scored in the 30th minute of play for KHSC before L Mantosh of LIZARD reduced the scoreline to 1-1 in the 52nd minute of play.

The two teams continued with a tie-breaker, however even after the end of the tie breaker the two were levelled at 4-4, with Jinjin of KHSC and N Roheshkumar missing out from scoring for their teams.

Players of both teams failed to score in the first two penalty shootouts of the sudden death; however the third penalty taker M Dhananjoy of KHSC scored, while L Boy of LIZARD failed to score in the sudden death.

The match ended 1(5)-1(4) in favour of KHSC.

Meanwhile in the girl’s final of the same tournament, IDEAL club defeated PHAM by 2-1.

Nirmala scored both the winners for IDEAl while A Geetarani scored one for PHAM. B Saria of PHAM was adjudged the Best player (girls) while K Johnson of LIZARD was adjudged the Best player (boys) player of the tournament.
