IMPHAL, March 22: The office of the Ward Development Committee (WDC) of Ward No. 22 conducted a one day awareness program on “Role of Ward Development Committee in the development and social assistance in urban areas within Imphal Municipality Ward 22” under 15 Wangkhei A/C at the Citizen Club in Soibam Leikai today.
The occasion was presided over by Ngamminlun Kipgen, Chairperson WDC Ward 22 and attended by Aribam Nimai Sharma, Chairperson Imphal Municipal Council (IMC); Thambaljao Phoumei, Vice Chairperson IMC; and Dr H Bir Kumar Singh, Principal Scientist, CSIR North East Institute of Science and Technology as Chief guest and Guests of honor respectively.
During the technical session, N Gitkumar, Director MAHUD gave his speech on the role of constituent “Ward Development Committees”, Implementation of Community Participation Act 2012 and KANGSHI-GARI as an effective solid-waste management tool.
During the questionnaires/discussions sessions, W Rajen Singh, Executive Officer IMC spoke on “role of municipality as Urban Local Body (ULB) towards socio and economic development mechanism” ; Sharda Manoharmayum, Project Director IMC on “understanding SJSRY Schemes under implementation by the ULBs”; and Y Sunil Singh, Business Manager MUDA on “schemes under MUDA for the urban unemployed educated populace”.
