Imphal, Jan 16: Following the search and rescue mission launched on 14 Jan 2012 in Loktak Lake, troops of 33 Assam Rifles and 5/9 Gorkha Rifles under Loktak Brigade continued their search for the missing fisherman. On extensive search of the Lake the dead body of the fisherman was found inside the Lake water. On interaction with the villagers of Phubala, it came to light that his name was Laishram Tomba Singh, Age 46 years, son of Late L Mani Singh. Mr Lairellakpam Shoben Singh, age 46 years, son of L Nilamani Singh who survived said that the incident took place when he was returning to his village with other two men after fishing. As per him, the Lake became turbulent due to heavy winds and they lost control of their boats and drowned. Troops of 33 Assam Rifles and 5/9 Gorkha Rifles continue their support to the villagers of Phubala following the unfortunate incident of drowning of three fishermen on night of 13 Jan 2012.
