New Delhi, Aug 31: The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore, Shri M.S. Biradar, has convicted M.A.Raghuraman, the then Superintendent of Service Tax, Commissionerate of Service Tax, Bangalore to undergo 1 ½ years simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000/- in a bribery case.
The CBI had filed a charge sheet against M.A.Raghuraman, the then Superintendent of Service Tax, Commissionerate of Service Tax, Bangalore U/s 7 and Sec. 13(2)r/w 13(1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The allegations as per the charge sheet were that M.A.Raghuraman Shah was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 12000/- from Bangalore-based complainant for showing him official favour.
The charge sheet in this case was filed on 13.12.2011 and the trial was completed within 9 months. The entire process from the date of registration and pronouncing judgement was over within one year.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested two private persons both residents of District Malda (West Bengal) in a Case related to smuggling & trafficking of Fake Indian Currency Notes.
A Case was registered by CBI under section 489-B and 489-C of IPC against the accused persons. Both the accused were caught while they had allegedly gone to deliver the Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs. 8,49,500/- to another person of Moradabad (U.P). The seized Fake Indian Currency Notes are in the denomination of Rs. 1000/- and Rs.500/-.
Both the arrested accused persons were produced before the Special Judicial Magistrate, Ghaziabad and were remanded to Four days Police Custody.
