AIZAWL, Dec 2 NNN: The two-day ‘Autumn Festival’ of Mizoram at Hmuifang Tourists Resort concluded today.
The festival was organised by the tourism department, government of Mizoram.
The Autumn Festival was inaugurated by Mizoram assembly deputy speaker John Rotluangliana where Tourism minister S. Hiato and Parliamentary Secretary H. Zothangliana were also attended.
Addressing the festival Mizoram Assembly Deputy Speaker John Rotluangliana said, “The Autumn Festival is organized for all the people; and especially it is happy time for the youths to celebrate with great fervor and free from intoxication.” He lauded that the youths have learnt to a great extent how to celebrate without disturbing others. John Rotluangliana said that the several initiatives carried out by Tourism department to attract tourists is appreciable, and said, “As of now, we may not have tourists from abroad and from other parts of the country as we expected but if we continue organizing festivals like this, which is attractive to visitors and tourists, we will be successful someday”.
Vabeiha Hlychho, Tourism Director also said, “The Central government wants us to organize more and more festivals so as to attract tourists; and as suggested and proposed in the meeting held in the year 2003 at Shillong, this festival which has been celebrated since long time in Shillong by our fellow Mizos, came to be celebrated here in Mizoram too.”
The Autumn Festival witnessed cultural dances under the banner of Mizo Cultural Organisation (MCO), which includes Cheraw, Sarlamkai, Khuallam, Sakeilu lam, Pasaltha lam,
Dawhzawm lam, Pawnto ; and also Chakma, Bru and Gorkha cultural troupes presented their cultural dances.Mizo Photographers’ Society also, for the first time in Mizoram, organized Photo Exhibition during the festival.
