IMPHAL, November 11: At least one person sutained injury when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at Mahabali Kabui Colony under Imphal East district near the venue of the Sangai Festival, amidst heavy security measures.

According to information culled out from the blast site the explosion occurred around 8.30 pm late in the evening inside the resident of one Ashiho Mao, 56, son of (L) Salu.

The blast site situated just a stone throw away from the main venue of the Sangai festival.

Ashiho, the victim and identified to be the driver of IGP (LO) L Kailun, sustained injury on his fore head.

The blast reportedly ripped off from Ashiho`™s residence who runs a business of selling local brew, inflicting injury on his forehead while he was having his dinner.

There was no customer left when the explosion occurred, said the sources adding that the explosion incinerated most of the properties inside.

Official sources observed that the bomb could have been triggered to create fear in the mind of the people rather than causing deaths judging from the absence of splinters.
