CHANDEL, November 21: A convoy of vehicles coming towards Moreh to receive the foreign delegates for Sangai Festival could not proceed and returned from Saivom Village due to the indefinite bandh of the Kuki Student’s Organisation ( KSO ) along Imphal-Moreh road today.

The bandh supporters who enforced the indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Moreh road halted the convoy of vehicles who came towards Moreh from Imphal to receive a team of foriegn delegates for the ongoing Sangai Festival at Saivom Village and were made to returned back.

After failing to arrive on any solution during the meeting with the State’s Education minister and IGNOU’s Regional Director, the student body intensified their agitation and enforced the indefinite bandh at several places along the section of National Highway.

Large number of bandh supporters blocked the road at Saivom, Tengnoupal and Chahmol Village and prohibited vehicular movement along the Imphal-Moreh road.

It may be mentioned that the KSO Chandel imposed indefinite bandh along the Imphal – Moreh Section of National Highway 102 in protest against shifting of D.El.Ed 2yrs Examination Centre of Tengnoupal BRC IGNOU Study Centre outside the District since November 14.

Meanwhile, Kuki Chiefs’ Association (KCA) Tengnoupal Block has urged the State government and concerned authority to bring amicable solution on the ongoing agitation at the earliest.

In a press statement signed by Holkhokhai Haokip, president of KCA Tengnoupal Block stated that economic activities and vement of general public particularly the villagers of the area has been severely affected due to the indefinite bandh imposed along the Imphal – Moreh road by the KSO since last Saturday.

Condemning the Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Imphal for shifting the D.El. Ed 2yrs examination centre, the Chiefs’ Association’s president also appealed the concern authority to settle the issue at the earliest.
