IMPHAL, November 25: S.V. Getwell School at Haotal, Pangei organised an event with a theme called ‘Nehru, Children and Science’ in the school on November 24, and the event was attended by Dr. Th. Meinya, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Prof. N. Rajmuhon Singh of Department of Chemistry, Manipur University, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Founder of The Nehruvian and NingombamDinamani Singh, the Principal of S.V. Getwell school as dignitaries, along with special invitees Shamurailatpam Nalini Devi, teacher and owner of Adarsh Laboratory and Diagnostics, and Shamurailatpam Jacky Sharma, a young entrepreneur, said a press release by The Nehruvian.

It said, the event had presentations from students reading out the speech of Jawaharlal Nehru and declamation playing the role of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, followed by showing the video of Nehru with children.

The chief guest of the event, M.P. Dr. Th. Meinya, conveyed the message of Nehru’s contributions to the making of modern India and his role in shaping India’s space and nuclear programmes. He opined stating that Nehru’s love for children might have arisen out of having only one daughter, and gave examples of Nehru’s statesmanship and love for children across the globe, said the press release.

It said, the guest of honour, Prof. N. Rajmuhon Singh, lectured on the role of Nehru along with scientist Homi Bhabha and philanthropist JRD Tata in building pioneering institutes of India. He quoted the role of Nehru in spreading scientific temper to the world of mankind, and mentioned about the great contributions of BARC, TIFR, IISc, etc. to science and humanity and also donated books authored by him to the school.

Another guest of honour, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, introduced the philosophy of The Nehruvian and its role in bringing the rational, modern and scientific minds through debates and discussions in today’s 21st century. He further urged the students and children who are the future pillars of mankind to apply the ideas, ideals and philosophy of Nehru in today’s world, and later had an interactive question-answer session with the students on The Nehruvian, said the press release.
