A large number of tobacco items such as Zarda, Khaini, Saajan, Tulsi etc worth Rs 50,000 seized from Ngari Galli, Khwairamband during the last couple of days by volunteers of Manipur Friendship Organisation (MFO) were set ablaze in front of their Babupara office today.
MFO general secretary Johnson Mangang said that titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba launched an awareness poster campaign on July 26 with the primary of objective of minimising abuse of intoxicating substances in the State.
Taking serious note of the death of four persons after consuming local liquor at Oinam Sawombung, Johnson urged the State Government to investigate the matter thoroughly and pull up anyone if there is any foul play.
