IMPHAL, Dec 20: SKY Hospital ye again provided free treatment with non-operative (device) closure of holes in the heart on December 16 for three small children, age ranging from 3 years to 7 years having very large holes in the heart called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) with enlarged heart and severe pulmonary arterial hypertension. The patients are Ksh Ashita Devi (3 years 8 months) d/o Chhatradhari of Kakching Turel Wangma, Kakching district; M Borex (4 years 6 months) s/o Brojen of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai and Vungsiansiam (6 years 5 months) d/o Goukhanvung of New Lamka, Churachandpur district. According to a press release of the hospital, these children will grow up as normal persons from now onwards although they will need a closer follow up in the following few months as per the interventional guidelines. Without closure of the heart holes, they would not survive long. The treatment was sponsored by National Health Mission, Manipur under RBSK.
