CHURACHANDPUR | Dec 23

Agriculture minister, V. Hangkhanlian and Health minister, L. Jayanta Kumar today attended facilitation programme of 90 successful candidates of the recent Army Recruitment Rally, which was conducted at Leimakhong army base from October 3 to October 10.

Out of the 90 candidates, 64 are stationed and trained in Khuga Battalion, 6th Sikhs Light Infantry and remaining 26 candidates in 25 Assam Rifles, Churachandpur. The programme was jointly organised by both the battalions. The programme also included free medical camp, weapon display, registration for the free training and coaching for joining Indian army and a cultural show by different cultural troupes from army personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, V. Hangkhanlian said that under initiatives by commander of 27 Sector AR Brig. Ajay Kumar, many good things are happening to the people of the district. The 90 candidates are the flag bearers of tomorrow as it will definitely change their lives, he added.

The minister also encouraged the youths to gain maximum advantage of the training given by Assam Rifles and contribute their ability for the upliftment of society.

The programme was also attended by commander of the 27 Sectors Assam Rifles and the CO of the two battalions under the 27 Sectors AR wherein sector commander Brig. Ajay Kumar congratulated the effort and accomplishment of the battalions which resulted in providing employment to 90 youths.

Chairman of ADCC, Khaipau Haokip, army pensioners and many village chiefs were also present at the felicitation function today.
