No one wants to resolve the ongoing economic blockade, with the Congress and the BJP more keen on delivering political points against each other and the United Naga Council more than ready to continue with the economic blockade. Caught in the middle are the public, the ones who have been directly facing the impact of the economic blockade and it is not at all pleasant.

Introduction
The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) is one of the many special laws passed by the parliament which provides policing responsibility to deal with the special situation. The reason of which the special laws go beyond the normal laws is that the state considered the existing legal framework is not enough to deal adequately with threats to the national security. At the same time, the legal security regime and defence mechanism of the state has been violating citizenship rights conferred by the constitution by misusing the special powers. Initially, the Armed Forces (Assam and Manipur) Special Powers Act, 1958 enforced as a temporary measures to deal with the Naga insurgency in the Naga Hills District of Assam including the three sub-divisions of the tribal hill areas in the then Union Territory of Manipur.

Introduction:
Manipur, once an Asiatic nation is located at the extreme northeastern corner of India. With an area of 22,327 square kilometers, Manipur of today is bounded in the north by Nagaland, in the east and south by Myanmar (Burma), in the south-west by Mizoram and in the west by Assam. A very charming hilly state, which had once separated Assam and Myanmar before the creation of present Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Mizoram out of Assam; Manipur had enjoyed the fortune and glory in the past and experienced sorrow and vicissitudes of her long history. It had been witnessed the transformation from a primitive tribal state to an independent kingdom and later on from native state of British India to a state of the Indian union.
