IMPHAL, Nov 13: A Chinese Hand Grenade exploded at a house in Sagolband Moirang Leirak, under the Lamphel Police Station, at around 5.30 pm.

The grenade exploded at the house of Pheiroijam Radha Devi, 55, wife of late Ph Ibohal Singh.

According to sources, one among two miscreants who came on a bike hurled the grenade and caused the explosion near the porch of the house. However, no family members were injured in the explosion.

It is yet to be known which UG group was responsible for the grenade attack. It is reported that Ph Radha Devi has a son who is a social worker, Ph Deva Singh.

Traffic regulations for Sangai Festival

IMPHAL, Nov 13: The Directorate of Transport, government of Manipur in connection with the upcoming Sangai Festival 2014 has issued order for traffic regulations in various areas, with immediate effect

IMPHAL, Nov 13: The Directorate of Transport, government of Manipur in connection with the upcoming Sangai Festival 2014 has issued order for traffic regulations in various areas, with immediate effect from November 20.

According to a release, for Lamlong Bridge: entry and exit for commercial & private/ public vehicles shall be allowed; Minuthong: entry and exit of light motor vehicles, two wheelers etc shall be allowed, but no entry for commercial vehicles; Old Thubuthong Bridge: entry and exit for public LMV shall be allowed, not for commercial vehicles, and from 3/3:30 pm onwards vehicular movement will be onlvy from west to est direction; New Thumbuthong: entry and exit for both private and commercial vehicles allowed; Singjamei Bridge: entry and exit for both commercial & private vehicles allowed.

It continued that for ‘one way’ or ‘road diversion’, there shall be one way traffic from Moirangkhom Bazar to Old Thumbuthong. Vehicular traffic from Wangkhei side will be diverted from Wangkhei Puja Lampak crossing either towards Kongba side or Konung Mamang side. Also vehicular traffic coming from Khongman side and New Thumbuthong side will be dicerted from Mange Makhong either towards New Thumbuthong or Khongman side resoectively.

Further, it said that no idle parking of vehicles along the stretches of Sanjenthong Bridge to Thangal General Statue; Thangal Statute to Minuthong Bridge; lane from Advance Hospital to Harikhagok crossing; in front of RD School.

During the festival, parking will be allowed at Andro parking for SLF buses; Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi; NSK Club, Wangkhei road, Wangkhei Girls High School; Archaeology land plot; Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Ramji Prabhu School.

Political Committee on ILP starts final sitting for recommendation on Nov 20

IMPHAL, November 13: The all Political Party Committee on ILP has started its sittings to prepare its draft report to State government regarding the implementation of Inner Line Permit System

IMPHAL, November 13: The all Political Party Committee on ILP has started its sittings to prepare its draft report to State government regarding the implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur at New Assembly Secretariat from today.

The Committee constituted from the delegates of various political parties is mandated to prepare a recommendation for a logical solution to the demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit system in Manipur.

The committee was formed on September 19 and have been consulting various legal experts, academicians, constitutional experts to come up with a workable recommendation on the ILP question.

Today, the final round of sittings started chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam at the new Office chamber allotted to the Committee at the New Assembly Secretariat Chingmeirong from 3 pm onward.

The final round of committee sitting is targeting to come up with a recommendation for a concrete solution for the implementation ILP in the State on or before November 20.

The Committee has a total of 15 members.
